Abit AL8 Problems (?)

Well, I am trying to boot the motherboard I have up, the Abit Al8, with a pentium D, one stick of 1gb ram, a 680 and a 500w PSU, and a video card, PCI-E or PCI.

I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of to get it to boot, but it won't. The power switch I am using is one I just connect to the board standardly, then I have to use touch the 2 wires together myself to get it to spark and go.

Well, it sparks and gos for a second, then stops. I can do this over and over, and it keeps running, but you can hear it still wanting to stop. When I do it sometimes, then put it on the clear cmos config, I put them together and everything runs (which is odd...). However, both times I do this, nothing shows on screen with either video card, and I can't hear a beep, because I don't have a speaker attached.

So, what is the problem? I also replaced the CMOS battery and nothing.

I would request an rma while abit is still in business. They may send you a different board, but it's better than nothing. Don't have a spare pc; then get a newegg open box board to tide you over. Rma's take about 3 weeks.
