Looking at a new build here soon. I like the features and layout of this board. Read the Anandtech review/preview of this board a few days ago and Abit already has a BIOS release.

AB9 QuadGT:
Beta BIOS M621E_11.B02:
1. Correct SPDIF phohe jack to meet Reltek Utility
2. Support 50 ohm ODT
3. Fixing CMOS Checksum error/CPU change message show at the same time.
4. Fixing to adjust CPU VTT 1.2V, MCH 1.25V, ICH 1.05V, ICHIO 1.5V, voltage high limit issue
5. Fixing EM64T string was covered while Clear CMOS
6. Adjust E-SATA signal
7. Fixing BIOS option "Resume by Alarm" to "Wake Up by Alarm"
8. Fixing can't boot from floppy, when I set SATA to RAID/AHCI mode and with the PATA HDD
9. The CPU Core Voltage highest limit is 1.9V
10. Fixing can't boot from SATA HDD, when I install bootable USB device

Knowing Abit is always tweaking and releasing BIOS I don't feel the review point of a immature bios is that much of a concern. Quality is what counts IMO and this board has it.

I'll give you more in a few weeks after I build. SLI is over rated so this board suits me fine. Not to mention I've seen this board as low as $185 and it hasnt even been out 2 weeks.

I have ordered the QuadGT (will be here Thursday) to replace my P5B Dlx that has given me nightmares. I have to agree. Early BIOS's are of no concern for me. It is the quality of the hardware that counts.

I hope they release a BIOS with 1333Mhz strap for super overclocking.

no, it's 5 phases digital PWM iirc.
If it's well designed the no. of phases doesn't really matter.

How did the build go ? Any problems ? Whats the quality and feel of the board like..?

So... I've got a really dumb question.

This thing came with 2 slot brackets. One plugs into USB headers.

The other has 2 plugs, one of which plugs into the IEEE header, and the other plugs into??? The ports on the back actually look like regular firewire and one a little smaller than mini-usb.

The board itself only has 1 ieee header and the wiring on the 'other' plug on the firewire bracket does not appear to be USB wiring... I admit I'm quite confused. Did they send me a generic 2 header FW bracket even though the board only has 1 FW header - or have I lost my mind here?

Intersting, mine came with 1 PCI slot plate that has 2xUSB & 2 different Firewire connectors.
Anyway, there are 2 different firewire connectors in common use - you choose to use the 1 that you want & the other is redundant (until you need to use that style of connector).

BETA BIOS - Quad Core Fix, RAID/IDE issues almost fixed.... Use at own risk, no technical support for it - QuadGT B06A Beta BIOS

Intel ICH8R + RAID mode with Intel ICH8R + SATA optical drive is not fixed, the other RAID/IDE issues are solved.

Yes - I am a dirty dirty filthy liar. This is what mine came with as well. I had a mental block while I was at work - denying the memory of all those cables hanging off 1 bracket.

But yeah, it's a double-bind cable for a single USB header, then 2 firewire(I assume) headers.

Sounds like I just let one of the FW's hang. :/

Anyone ever used this board with 2gb sticks of memory? I will be running VMWare (host CentOS [linux], many different guest OS's), and would like to go with 2gb sticks so I can get 8gb of mem. I may start with just 4gb. I would probably do some mild over-clocking ....

System as purchased so far:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Seasonic M12 PSU
Antec P180 case
XFX GeForce 7600GT

If 2gb sticks really hurt performance, then maybe I will rethink that strategy and just go with 1 gig sticks and max of 4gb.

I've been playing with a QuadGT for 2 days now and I have an unbelievable amount of hissing/whining coming from the board. I've never heard a board so loud with no fans running other than the PS! Anybody else have a QuadGT with this problem? I'm not sure if I should exchange it or just return it.

there's a very similar post to yours on the Abit forum, and with some others chiming in about the same problem:
Odd hissing/whining when running higher FSB on AB9 QuadGT

If you could power the board outside the case--easily doable since the QuadGT has power and reset switches built right in--and closely draw your ear over its various parts while it was hissing, you might be able to narrow down the area where the sound is coming from (that is, if you don't electrocute yourself first, haha!).

Some people say toroidal inductors can on occasion emit noise, and as pointed out near the end of the thread I just linked to, the QuadGT appears to have such an inductor in its upper right corner. Looking at Newegg's aerial photo of the board's topography, I can see what looks like a small toroidal inductor--with its copper windings--straight across from the top of the rightmost DIMM socket, right on the edge of the board.

I know it'd be a big hassle to break down your system to conduct this rather subjective test, but it might be a preferable alternative to possibly going insane over the nagging mystery of it all.

Can't take the hissing. It's going back. Seems like a really nice board otherwise.

Although...uGuru...what a pain in the ass. They really need to make a proper uninstall for this POS software. If you happen to get the install fubar'd, you are screwed. Never did get the fan control working properly. Made me really miss speedfan (which doesn't work much at all on this board).
