I personally could care less about the latest processors, I care about today's deal. I will likely not be replacing this Q6600 in this board, ever. By the time I aim to replace it with 1 or 2 generations down the line, it will most likely require a new socket/RAM type, so the MB is irrelevant. The only thing I might do is upgrade RAM to 8GB or more, if the latest BIOS revisions will handle it when the time comes.
Remember, Nehalem will come out in about a year, and in 2, the first set of chips should be bargains again. And there's no telling where AMD's die shrink and next gen will take them.
