ABIT AB9 $105 Shipped After MIR

First post. Hoping this wasn't posted already. The MIR is $30.

ABIT AB9

The Pro version of this board reached a 436MHz FSB in Anandtech's P965 roundup. I heard that the non-Pro version just has less ports. It is about $30-40 cheaper than the other boards in the roundup, so I think that's pretty decent.

EDIT: $30 MIR

any one else confirm only jsut less ports? looks like another gigabyte s3 sleeper.

EDIT judging by the abit website

ab9 has ich8 SB instead od ich8-R like the pro

2 less sata ports
less raid features and not dual gigabit lan

everything else the same. not bad.

Can you expand on the Gigabyte S3 sleeper comment? How is its OC'ing ability?

its a ~100 dollar board like this one and it overclocks great just like the ds3.

Would the Gigabyte board yield 20% performance boost for the 20% extra in cost?

possibly. many ppl get different results with the gigbytes. but over 400 is for sure tho. usually around 450 fsb +- like 20 is the average.

I'd much prefer the GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 which comes with a COM/serial port and a LPT/printer port whereas the Abit board does not! Yeah the Gigabyte cost $115.99 but there is no rebate to hassle with and the board has a better layout....

Yeah... I've decided that I'm blowing the extra $10 on the Gigabyte. This is a bit off topic, but does anyone have any comments on ClubIT's customer service, shipping, etc.? They have it $5 cheaper than Newegg.

I can't even remember the last time I needed to use a serial port...and all my printers use USB now...

Why in the world would you still be using serial or LPT devices...lol

Old laser printer? Legacy devices? Maybe an old OBDII diagnostic tool?

Club-IT is top notch all the way. I've made several purchases & also a couple of returns with them. All have been handled beautifully. Highly recommended!
