New Delhi, May 4: When the mother of a 14-year-old boy, who went missing, filed a kidnap case against their neighbour, a 22-year-old woman, last year, she had hardly expected how the case would turn. The ??couple?? who had eloped, were found in Rajasthan, married with a 6-month-old daughter.
The boy?s mother yesterday withdrew the case against the accused Khushbooda (22) in Tiz Hazari courts, saying she had accepted her as a daughter-in-law.
The story began in February last year, when the two Raksha Enclave, Uttam Nagar, residents eloped, police said. The boy?s mother filed a kidnap case against the girl. The Crime Branch on a tip-off found them in Ajmer last week.
They were brought back and Khushbooda was arrested on kidnap charges and produced in Tis Hazari court. However, the mother of the boy told the court yesterday that the family had decided to drop the charges against the girl and had accepted her as their daughter-in-law. The boy?s family posted bail for the girl.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Manoj Jain has directed the SHO of Uttam Nagar police station to provide protection to the couple, after Khushbooda feared her family, unhappy with the match, might try to hurt them.
The 14-year-old?s statement will be taken by the police, with the judge directing he undergo a bone ossification test to determine his age.
