In that regard, local ota stations are important.

Wrong. it's the other way around. Besides the fact that the major news reports are heavily biased and lack any integrity, these same news shows are all just another reality tv show and the world are the actors.

If any ota network goes under, there will easily be 3 more to fill that vacuum. On the contrary, OTA networks are holding on harder than they hold onto their own balls to keep their network running and protected by the gov't. These are cash cows.

LMAO. Have you actually watched what passes for local news in 2010? The 3 Washington, DC network affiliates air 99% fluff and BS and the occasional 30 second look at actual news. They have been cutting their news ops like crazy and now have the field reporters doing their own camera work.
