I think the US Govt and the people of the US should support Abbas in these efforts.

Perhaps Bush should Invite Abbas to the US for a summit, then Sharon, then the three together can hammer out a real agreement....

We should all be hoping for this.

yes we should. He's a better leader and person than the terrorist, Arafat.

I wish Abbas nothing but success

I suspect that after months of relatively peaceful negotiations all hell will break lose, once again, when Palestinians realize that Israel will not give up majority of settlements AND that ?67 borders are ancient history AND that Israel will keep control of Palestinian air space AND Israel will keep control of major roads dividing future Palestine AND?.

I hope I?m wrong.
Will you ever realize that the terrorist attacks the Palestinians commit against Israel only come back to bite them. They do more harm to the Palestinian. I hope the Palestinians realize this.

Israel wants to pull out from a lot of the settlements, even though many Israeli's dont.
Of course, you yet again fail to point out that if Israel does pull out of the illegally-occupied territories, the justification for Palestinians to continue terror attacks goes away.

And why was that land occupied in the first place?

hopefully they are for real. until the palestinians stop coddling their bin ladins there can be nothing but death and misery. can't they see that. there is no case for their cause when they encourage and support those who are so purely evil as the fundamentalists who live amoung them. would you give freedom to those who wished you wiped out? its a shame they didn't have a dr king.. instead they had arafat who like hitler poisoned the population with hatred, who knows how much of the youth is lost to reason at this point.

What's the point? Israel will keep shutting him out because they think one man can control the actions of everyone. The people who want to fight know this is how Israel responds so they will continue to fight because that is all they know how to do. They don't have jobs and they don't have money. What do they have to lose?

$20 says someone is going to come in this thread and blame everything on the Palestinians. Just waiting for that person to come online.

It is all the fault of the Palestinians that Abbas makes effort to end attacks on Israel. He was elected to his position by them.

Happy now, Aimster, or were you attempting to play the hate card in a different way?

No my comment was directed at raildogg and he popped in 5 minutes later. 🙂

Considering Abbas recently referred to Israel as the "Zionist enemy", I don't believe his claims for peace are any more real than Arafat's.

Nice source. Bravo.

what qualifies as a good source? al jazeera?

If you can quote a website like that I might as well quote websites about Israel that the Palestinians made. Of course in your mind Muslims are BS and they are not human so their news is unreliable, but when it happens to be the other way around it is ok.

You have yet to provide evidence of Israeli government wanting to pull out of "a lot" of settlements...

think this should do it (at least for the moment)
another one

Yes, I'm aware of Gaza pullout plan, but that is not "a lot" that is a "tiny bit". There are over 200 settlements and 17 of the smallest ones will be removed, you call that a lot?

Nice exaggeration.

I have no problem with that. Hes falsely accusing me of hating muslims. He has posted here over and over again that I want to kill all muslims I believe no muslim has a right to love. That is a total lie and I'm really disgusted by it. I will have no more of it.

Nice exaggeration.

"Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel said today that he had given an order to plan for the removal of all 17 Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip, causing consternation among settlers and politicians."

Read that again.
