Say what you want about faux news.... they hit the nail on the head here...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/03/30/aarps-non-profit-status-insurance-income

One of the loudest proponents of obamacare. The reason... AARP knew obamacare would cut payments to medicare.. and make their gap insurance products more attractive. Which of course means more profits for the big non-profit lobbying/insurance group.

"They're endorsing this bill because they know it will strengthen Medicare, not jeopardize it; they know it will protect the benefits our seniors receive, not cut them," Obama said in a November 2009 press briefing on his controversial law.

And likely this was said with a deadly serious smile.

So in other words republicans get in charge and go after anybody that disagreed with them? Why not look into all the companies that spent millions fighting the bill because it would cost them money and that is the only thing they were worried about?

Oh and AARP already put up its finacial doc's long before the republicans went after them, it was in your link but I guess you missed that part?

Not saying AARP is fully clean, but this is just partisan poltics at its best.

The GOP is kind of like the Mafia in that they put a hit on anyone who threatens their power. So far they have been very successful with extremely shady tactics.

BTW, what ever happened to jobs, jobs, jobs? I'll I've seen so far is fundamentalist ethics legislation and political attacks on their enemies list.

<-- Not a member of or affiliated with AARP in any way, just kind of sick to death of this sanctimonious BS.

Lots of non profits are extremely profitable.
You mean the people who work there or the company as a whole?

Hi I do presentations for PETA to educate people about animal cruelty. I make 6 figures :awe::awe::awe::awe:

Both. Take Ikea for example.

Non profit has nothing to do with whether or not you make a profit. It only puts certain restrictions on what you can do with your profits, in exchange for certain tax benefits. Every non-profit aims to be profitable, or else they wouldn't survive. Granted some use revenue streams other than sales, but the idea that non profits and charities are one and the same (or even remotely related) is, well, unfortunate.

Not so much a fight when all those AARP members realize that the AARP support of obamacare means they will have to buy more supplemental insurance FROM AARP to get the same level of care they had previously.
