OK, I bought the GC last week, my first real console since the SNES (I had N64 on two seperate occasions but sold it pretty quickly each time).

Well, first off a brief review of the console. I didn't like the strange, small box shape at first, but now its growing on me, and I like it, I wonder how many MB (or GB) can be stored on those tiny discs. NOT ENOUGH, since Resident Evil comes on 2 discs! Probably should have used larger cds. I really like the controller, Nintendo always makes really wierd lookin controllers that feel really good and work well! Thumbs up to them. The PLUS pad is now basically a thing of the past, its a small feature on the new conroller, taking second place to the analog pad. That's fine by me.

I bought 3 games with my GC, Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader, Resident Evil, and NBA 2002.

Rogue Squadren. Basically this game take the best level of Shadows of the Empire for N64 (The Hoth Level) and makes a whole game out of it. Of course there's levels in space, 2 death star levels, and a new and improved Hoth level. I really like this game, its not too long, but the levels are FUN! The Hoth Level really makes you feel like you're in the movie, its a really immersive experience. There's a ton of features like audio commentaries for each level, and a making of... documentary. Really cool. Overall, 7/10

Resident Evil, I DID NOT know what to expect with this game, I had never seen any previous versions and didn't know what the gameplay was like. I thought it was an action game, but I was PLEASANTLY suprised when I started playing it, and it most reminded me of one of my old favorites SHADOWGATE! YIPPEE! It has awesome graphics, is really immersive (there's that word again) and is just plain fun. 7.5 out of 10

NBA 2002 This is an incomplete review since I haven't played a season, or gotten into the franchise part yet. However, the gameplay is great. It is IMO, better than NBA Live, allthough I haven't played Live 2002. The graphics aren't as good as they could be, but its is fast, fluid, and plays well. And the computer isn't a total pushover on the toughest diff level. 7/10

So, the games I have gotten are overall pretty good, no titles that are must have, but fun games nonetheless. I give the console overall a 8 out of 10, this console is really begging for some KILLER games such as Mario. How many sales did Nintendo lose by not having Mario at launch? Well, all will be good come August.

man, have some restraint, that sets the bar too high, when a game better than RS comes out, what will you give it, at 12 or 13. Keep your reviews in check.

Wow. If you think Resident Evil on the GameCube is only okay, then you should return everything right now. That's the A-list game. It's going to take a while before anything better comes along.

I use a comparative fun scale, a 10 is reserved for that elite list of games that I have played throughout my life, and how much fun they gave me. It is a VERY DIFFICULT list to get on, a 9 is the games that just came short, also classics. I gave RE a 7.5 which makes it a fun game that I enjoy, however 10 years from now, it will not be in the pantheon of great games I've played.

Super Monkey Ball is definetly a game to get too (Only $29.99 at most places) That's the only game I miss by not having a GC anymore

That game is awesome. Super Monkey Ball 2 is supposed to come out later this year. I hope it's even more fun.

Zim - XBox. To be honest I hated the XBox when it came out. I had preordered the GC the first day you could at Gamestop, got my GC the day it came out. I had SMB, SSBM, THPS3, RS, Madden 02, and Wave Race: Blue Storm and the only one I actually liked was SMB. SSBM was just a poor rip off/clone of the original SSB for the 64 (which I play all the time) - maybe it's the controller but I hated SSBM. THPS3 was the same old TH and it's on every system. RS has great graphics but it was just kinda boring imho. I like SW and all and the Hoth level was really great but there really wasn't anything else in RS that just kept me interested. Had a chance to play both the XBox and PS2 over Christmas break and ended up really liking the XBox so I traded the GC in for the Box.

Different strokes for different people though - I'm sure some people think Halo is boring and whatnot but that's just my experience

I got Luigis mansion, rogue squadron, cel damage and crazy taxi in the EBGAMES deal last week.

They are all good in their own way. I thought crazy taxi would be somewhat different than dreamcast, but it's the same exact game, except absolutely no slowdowns.

Thing is now, sold crazy taxi already, and now other three games cost me a total of 29 bucks. (I missed the 15% off or it would have been about 15 bucks.) Is that awesome or what.

BTW, rented wave race too. (Free rental... hot deals again.) And that's fun too. Some of you guys are too picky.
