Don't let the thing dangle freely. It'll scratch up the door.

Didn't say I did. That's why I wouldn't let her drive it.

I always wonder why people drive around with a mirror flopping.

Lack of tape?

Avoid the dealer parts department, unless you have money to burn. duh

Tell me where else to get a VeraCruz side mirror other than the dealer. 😉

folding mirrors at the touch of a button FTW. I have to use it now that my X5 is a few inches wider on both sides than my Rodeo.

Anyway, I got a replacement mirror from the junkyard once. Cheapest and best bet. EDIT>> yup looks like you're stuck with ebay or dealership.

My friend uses the hanging tennis ball trick for his wife and her hummer. She is not a good parker, especially with an SUV (mini though) but all she hits now are tennis balls and knows to stop and change her course. It might help your wife, especially with stuff like pulling too far in. Hanging tennis balls in your garage may not look too great (they only use 1 but I guess you could do 2 more on each side) but I'm sure it looks better then busted up car parts and walls.

JG, if the frustration stems from her interactions with the garage, why not have her park outside?

Gee thanks for your hostile intention of causing physical abuse of your wife.

Does she know you publish this shit so that everyone can read it? Hopefully someone has the heart to tell her.

I've seen one of my friend use that tennis ball method. The OP did mention he use rocks so his wife should know when to stop when the wheels hit. The problem is that she can't back out straight.

I dunno. I end up parking outside. She parks inside. Guess I'm just too nice.

How do you walk with the steel shaft so far up your ass? I said "feel like punching" not that I did or ever would punch her. Never laid a hand on her. Married for 10+ years.

My wife did the same thing. Backed the car up into the garage and knocked the mirror clean off. We bought a replacement online.

If she keeps smashing everything, you may need to have her park outside. Then again she may start bashing up the neighbors cars then!

Hmm oddly enough, my sister has done this already and my mom has never done it in all the years of her driving (she's a bit more cautious of a driver). My brother's smashed the rear end of the car when pulling out of the garage if I remember correctly.

I've never done it because as I'm reaching the edge of the garage, I look at both mirrors to make sure that there won't be an issue. Never had to correct my path because of an imminent mirror-knocking issue though. Not hard to pull into the garage correctly and also back up straight... you don't turn the wheel 😕.
