I have a BE6ver2 Ican shut down the putor and hard start just fine BUT...when i hit RESTART, this is what i get:

AWARD BootBlock Bio V1.0
Copyright 1998 AWARD SOFTWARE Inc.

BIOS ROM CHECKSUM ERROR

Detecting Floopy Drive A
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

prob also is that i have NO keyboard (the thing just goes dead. i can press ENTER or anyother keys and nothin ZIPOLLA. there are no lights lit up on the keyboard when this happens.

Every single damn time it does this! But only when i go to RESTART. If i turn the machine off totally, then back on again, it boots just fine. problem is...when i remotely reboot the machine from a different state (putor is in Nevada Im in Kansas) i have to call someone in nevada to go to the putor and MANUALLY reboot it.

HELP!!! This is suckin REAL BAD!

thanks all for your help

Not to rub it in, but here we have another tragic example of what happens when you have Abit in your life.

My advice sell that bad boy (or throw it out a window) and get a nice Asus board.

Besides that good luck. I had that board (was a rough time in my life) and it was a headache from the first day until it went bye-bye.

Sorry there bud....:(

If you want some help, you should post it in your title. People will usually bypass ones that have titles like yours.

Example: Need help with BE6-2

Hey look, it's that guy who is hung up about a mobo company. Have they offered you a job at ASUS, you know the makers of the best mobo's in the universe, yet? This guy is looking for help, not your problems...

drbecker-Sorry I can't help you, but just disregard this guy and wait for someone that might actually be helpful....

I have sought it out, but it was too expensive :)

I have had tons of computer problems in the past, and will have them in the future, but I keep my sense of humor. That and this great German and Dutch beer!

Wasn't trying to step on toes here. I was giving him advice. I had that board, I sold it for $80.00 dollars or so, and bought the Asus P3V4X. I have had the board for three months now, and it has not crashed once on me. With the Abit board it crashed everyday. If you don't like my advice, then just ignore it . I will live, I promise.

This board is here for people to get together who like computers, so than talk about them and buy/sell parts. As long as the message is not rude or does not attack a person, then it is fine.

Antiabit- I was being a little sensitive wasn't I? I have been dealing with this Hyper99 guy who was just posting alot of useless inflammatory threads just to get attention. I have learned alot from this forum, and I don't like when people post stuff like "that board sucks" or "Intel Rulez" when someone needs help. I didn't realize you were kidding with that guy. I have never had an Abit board before my KA7-100, and I think it is the best board I have had by far. I can't speak for all Abit boards though. I saw that guy asking for help with a problem, and then you telling him to throw his board out the window and get an ASUS, and I thought you were one of those people. If I am wrong I absolutely apologize:)

No problem. I was not making fun of this guy or teasing him. Abit might have ironed out their wrinkles in their products now, but I can't even begin to tell you how much the BE6-2 (my particular one) bothered me. I had problems with it from the first time I tried installing it.

Asus has made bad products in the past, and I still don't care much for their graphic cards, but I feel they are at a very good point right now as market leaders in motherboard quality and performance.

I apoligize to ya drbecker if you took offense to my comments, as I know you must be really aggrivated at your PC right now. I hope someone on here can help you out with your problem.

Insane3D thanks for posting a well written calm message back. I just like meeting new people and having fun. I apoligize if my last message came out sounding a little on the grumpy side.

Antiabit, no problem. I can already tell I made a rush to judgement about ya:) Also, I can understand why you feel that way about Abit. I have heard about alot of problems with that board.. I almost went with an Asus for my Athlon, but I just hate those damn AMR slots! Take it easy, and maybe we will meet up again under better circumstances. I am going to lighten up a bit I promise! Later.

PS- Maybe I just need some of that German beer!:)

Drbecker- I would suggest starting a new thread titled "Restart problem with BE6ver2...Please Help!" or something similar as most people won't even look at this thread due to the title. Good luck...

Becker,

reflash the bios, I had an old tyan with a corrupt bios. It would do this everytime, finnally I just said to hell with it and stuck in a boot disk when it asked for a system disk. Lo and behold it booted off that disk. So I flashed the bios, and boom been fine ever since.
