Man this is a really nice computer, but it has two drawbacks -----> It's apple (no caps cuz it sucks, haha) and it's only about $3600.00. That's pocket change to the rich people unlike me.

Here is the Link.

The best thing is the slot load dvd/cdrw combo!!! (I want one for my comp but i think it would make my comp look crappy)

I was almost sold until they mentioned the "fastest drive ever... Ultra ATA/66 interface".

Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!

Maybe if you actually read it, you would've noticed that they mention it's the fastest drive ever in a Powerbook.

I think it's a nice laptop myself. Not many PC laptops you can edit video decently on.

Nice comp. I liked the bit about the vid card being good for serious gamers, however. 16 megs Radeon and an Apple != serious gaming. How many games run on Apples? Like two.

Anyway it is a damn nifty laptop and I have to commend Apple for hanging on so long when they suck so hard!

I did actually read it, if you don't mind. I just think it's funny how they can charge so much for something that isn't even close to cutting-edge...

Then you should've said that in the first place.

I'd like you, however, to show me a PC laptop that compares in features.

Show me ONE laptop other than this one that comes with a CD-RW/DVD-RW drive or Firewire port standard.

Hey I like the powerbook but for $3600 you can add a firewire port and CD-RW on your laptop and buy and external DVD-RW for the money.

EDIT: It's not even a DVD-RW drive...it's a DVD Rom drive....so you can definitely get all this stuff on a PC laptop and save yourself some money.

Well, I agree with you up until the external DVD-RW drive. The idea of a laptop is mobility. Who wants to carry that kind of crap around?

Well, icecool83 beat me to it by mentioning Sony latops, but the VAIO that I was going to use as an example was the GR390. It comes standard with all the things that your precious Powerbook does and more, plus it costs less.

Do you wear glasses? I think you need to have them checked because that model of the VAIO does come with a Firewire port, but it has a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, not a CD-ROM/DVD-RW drive. And I'm not saying that PCs are bad laptops, I'm just saying that you have to give Apple the credit they deserve for making a fine product.

Dude, maybe YOU need glasses. Apple's site lists the drive as a "DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo drive". I'll admit that this new Powerbook looks nice, but looks can be deceiving... especially with such a high price point.

I wouldn't want to but...the as I re-read the page it states that it is a regular DVD rom drive not a DVD-RW, most laptops come with that option nowadays. But you can't buy the look anywhere else and the screen is just amazing.

<< Dude, pulse, the PowerBook does NOT come with a DVDRW drive. >>

lol

Maybe I need my eyes checked. You're right. I think I may have been confused with their G4 desktops.

It's still not a bad laptop, though. 🙂

😀

Don't worry, it happens to us all sometimes.

Anyways, I agree, it's a sweet laptop, just insanely priced (actually, not that insanely priced if you compare it to some IBM ultrportables 😉)! But man, does it look nice...
