Just got done using a wash/wax mix on it in prep for my October Gettysburg PA trip. Cant' wait. 11 days of campfires, trails, relaxing....

My baby is getting those black streaks on it however, ugh. Gonna get some rubber roof treatment for it as well. Anyone have product suggestions for those issues? Pic of my rig....

They make a black streak remover that works well. Just don't let it sit on the stain too long.
Spray it on
Wipe/scrub off streak
Rinse

Camping season is pretty much over. High country is starting to dip into the 30's at night and that just isn't pleasant.

Doesn't look like you're camping either, dragging that house behind you. Might as well stay in a hotel.

House? That thing is tiny.

Here's a house:

We are heading to the beach in late October and will probably leave the trailer down there for a couple of weeks.

It sounds like you might as well stay in a hotel if this bothers you.

No, I prefer camping in my camping season. This means sleeping bags and cooking over fires and such. Not dragging a house with you to some developed "campground" with flushing toilets and running water. You couldn't even get that monstrosity to where I camp.

I don't like colder weather camping - that is just me. I could go but I prefer to camp when I can wear shorts all the time.

Nah, I get the appeal of both extremes. Backpacking or living out of a trailer, they're both spending a lot of time outdoors and away from civilization.

You can't get away from civilization if you are dragging that thing behind you, which defeats the purpose of camping.

Have you seen how many people are at developed campgrounds? I don't want to have 50 neighbors when I go camping.

I agree that I go camping to get away from people, BUT for many people camping is a very social activity, which is one reason those campgrounds are stuffed to the gills with people.

KDOG, the best thing I have used for the black streaks is called "Awesome". It is sold at Dollar General stores. You have any of those near you? It is cheap, and you can use it full strength. I spray it on and then use my wash brush and soap to scrub it off. Streaks come right off. It has been safe on my 2005 Jayco and now on our 2009 Palomino Puma.

We are going the last weekend in October to do the Lake Michigan circle tour. We do this every few years. About 500 miles or so around Lake Michigan, in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

It's too damn hot in my neck-of-the-woods to camp ... at least until November.

Thank God for air conditioning.

Going next friday to go deer hunting for two weeks then elk hunting after that, should be up there camping close to a month.

Needs to get cooler though, right now it is staying in the 60s as a high in the days. Too warm.

It is a social activity for me as well. But that means me, family, and friends, or any combination of those. It does not mean 50 families that I don't know who let their kids run wild and crazy and do stupid things like almost start forest fires.

I go away from civilization so that I don't have to deal with idiots - so I don't want to have to deal with them while I'm camping either.

Sometimes I go camping to be away from everything and everyone.

What I meant was that I have seen many campgrounds where all "50 families" will get together around the campfire at night. I'm not saying I would do this because I have and I hated it. But for them it was enjoyable, and if that is their thing then more power to them.

I have never seen this at all. Every time that I have had to camp in the more popular developed campgrounds, everyone pretty much keeps to themselves, save for the wild kids running around.

I usually end up having to help people who are too stupid to even be attempting to camp so that they don't burn the place down or they get stuck and I have to pull them out of something or some stupid thing.

With a tent like that you need to travel with a band:

I can't park a "hotel" next to a river or on the beach close enough to hear the surf, nor can I park it high in the mountains where the city lights are over the horizon and you can see a million stars at night, and we do cook over the fire at every opportunity.
I've packed our gear in a couple of miles and that is nice, but if the weather turns sideways we still have a good time with our 5th wheel.
Last time it really blew on us in a tent, we had it blow down around our ears a couple of times in a gale with driving rain and we finally gave up and slept in the cars. Fun times:p

Well youre right - camping season is almost over this is our last trip of the season.

I do like the rough tent/shelter camping as well. I would love to get the Paratipi by Kifaru and try it out. Maybe even the 4 Man shelter. One day I'll try a trip like that. Good ol' "survival" style camping. They make some good gear:

Exactly you can't park one of those freaking hotels at good camping spots. If you have problems with a tent and wind you should check out how to tie up tarps to create wind and rain screens. I could have a tent totally sheltered with a couple tarps and some rope.

What's this nonsense about camping season being over? It's just begun...

And this is home for me:

And she's only blown over once....
