I had called them cuz the raid controller and an integrated network card had screwed up on one of my servers
they came in to replace parts (would not let me do it even if I know more about it than their tech boy)

and they replaced my motherboard with a refurbished one .... with a bad video card on it !!!!!
thank god I didn't do it myslef they would have probably accused me of breaking the mofo myslef.
I can believe they sent me a refurb MB (my server is 4 months old)...I called them to tell tehm I want a new MB and they told me this would take about a weel to get here (in Chile)
this really sucks
luckily the old MB had to network cards so I will be able to run till then
but this really svcks :frown:

dell just pisses me off, but i usually make a profit out of them....

for e.g. my old computer was a celeron 400 with a 6GB harddisk. i kept "corrupting" my hard drive (or so i'd tell them) and they'd send me new ones, over the 4 years i had that computer, i got:
- replacement new motherboard
- 4 harddrives, the last being a 40gb one
- replacement memory (my 128 chip got corrupt, they sent me a 256)
- 2 monitors (i hate the way monitors start to fade out ;-) )
- new CD burner (origianlly 4x, they sent me a 40x)
- 4 keyboards (don't drink water near keyboards)
- 2 mice (mice were getting grimey)

😀

Wow, what an asshole.

Hmm we buy hundreds of computers from Dell with very few problems at all. They have never used any refurbished parts on our computers either.

nah, i have to make use of my extended warranty! and if you have a huge corp. like dell upgrading yoru parts for free, why not, y'know?! 😉 its not like the parts that go back are thrown away, they're just stuck in a box and sent out to the next person!

well
I manage about 30 dell servers PE 2650 for the most part and 1650
they do have a few problems when running raid
so the drives and the backplane go bad sometimes...
the scsi cables are too short in them and dell know this is an issue

it also hapened to me more than once to have a network card go down on those

we also manage a lot of dell PCs in all our client and for those I must say they are very reliable.

for the rerfurb parts, I assure you that every time you make a call, and they need to replace, they use first refurb if they have and else a new one....i've tried to tell them not to do that but every time is the same story
