AAA discounts at many of your favorite retail stores?

For AAA members - I knew AAA gave discounts for hotels, car rentals and such, but I just noticed today (long story, not worth it) that they also give you discounts at a lot of local and national retail stores on a bunch of stuff.

For example, AAA members (at least in the NY region) get 10% off at Target.com; 8% off any purchase of $199 or more at Circuit City (with exceptions), discounts at OfficeMax, DirecTV and a whole buttload of other places.

Again, I assume the list of discounts changes regionally (there are some local Mom'n'Pop shops listed on my region as well), so you'll have to check it out on the AAA website under your own region. But hey, a discount is a discount!

Found this one that may be of interest (note the bolded part - yes it's stackable!):

AAA members appreciate special treatment. Now, you have elite status with Dell, with an exclusive 6% AAA member savings on Dell systems, electronics and accessories. And what's even better, your AAA savings can be added to most already discounted offers for even greater savings. Dell gives you concierge-like service with expert salespeople, an extensive web-store and by delivering your products to your door.

Hell, I think this may be a RossMAN-worthy deal!

Interesting find. In CT we don't have Office Max or Circuit City listed.

One this might be useful for some is the AAA prescription discount card. Here's their blurb:

Looking for a painless way to save on prescription medication?

AAA has a free, simple, and easy to use prescription discount program for AAA members- AAA Prescription Savings. There are no enrollment or claim forms to fill out and no deductibles.

Simply pick up a free AAA Prescriptions Savings card at a nearby AAA office or online at aaa.com/prescriptions, write your AAA membership number on the card and present it to a participating pharmacist for immediate savings. It?s that easy.

Your pet is covered, too, if they take a prescription drug that people also use.

AAA members save an average of 20% off retail prices. The AAA Prescription Savings card is accepted at 59,000 locations- 8 out of 10 pharmacies nationwide. Click on the 'Visit Online' link below to print your AAA Prescription Savings card or to locate a participating pharmacy near you.

Edit: With a little more digging I was able to find a Circuit City discount for CT. Didn't check for OM, none in my area.

Reading OP made me wonder how well this compares to EPP. Any ideas guys?

Still a great post OP!

First off, it would stack with the EPP. Second off, to get a decent deal with the EPP, you have to drop money into the warranty (I believe you have to buy at least a 3 year warranty to get the 12% or whatever discount). Third off, the EPP does not stack with most Dell promotions or coupon codes, whereas the AAA discount does.

Usually, you get screwed on EPP pricing, whereas if you go to Dell Home or Small Business, you usually get a much better deal and can stack the AAA discount with it.

I got a great deal on my Sony KDS-55A3000 television this past fall. It was already $300 off regular price and used the 10% coupon on top of that. For a B&M purchase on such a large item, I think I did well. Love the television by the way and highly recommend to anyone wanting to step up to a large screen.

This is a great post! I have been throwing away money to several local shops, plus Dell and others online. They need to list all of these in fine print on the back of the card or something so I can remember them! thanks op
