AA or HDR?

I don't like jaggies either but after I played Chaos Theory @ 1600x1200 with HDR I could not go back to say 1600x1200 4xAA . . . HDR just makes that game so much more immersive . . . for Far Cry I would say I would choose HDR over AA @ 1600x1200 and above since jaggies won't be quite as noticeable and it also looks so damned beautiful with HDR . . .

Basically since you have SLI 7800GT you can afford to run HDR at resolutions such as 1600x1200 or even 1920x1200 then you should definitely pick HDR over AA since HDR does make quite a big difference . . .

I have an LCD (to save space) which has a max res at 12x10, now I ask you, would you choose HDR or AA.

At such a low resolution I'd definitely be going with AA.

Ya rly, AA.

But HDR makes Farcry look stunning (rapes my 6600GT and leaves it for dead tho)....

Don't have a fuss . . . 😉

Probably Transparent AA for Far Cry . . . especially in the large outdoor maps where the jaggies can get pretty siginificant . . . maybe HDR in some of the later, inside locales.

I'd still go with HDR for Splinter Cell since it's a darker game, hence AA not as important.

Really it depends. If the game is quite bright and involves a lot of outdoor scenary, TrAA would help a lot. If not, HDR will be worth more . . .

@1280x1024 HDR, I use it and jaggies are so small and few that are hardly noticeable in Farcry. For me it's a no brainer.

Yeah in the end it depends on how sensitive you are to jaggies . . .
