Observant readers may have noticed rather a lot of crying about the lack of AA functionality in Dawn of War II in this evaluation on AMD hardware. Some gamers may not care about AA at all, while AA is a deal-breaking issue for some others. Different people have different levels of sensitivity to aliasing while gaming. The point is this: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II launched on February 21st of 2009. That is almost three months ago. Three months! The thing is, this is not some obscure indie game with a nonexistent budget developed by a team of college students stealing their spare time from classes and homework to spend on developing a game. This is a high-profile, big-budget title. AMD knew about this game. They should have known about these issues and started working on optimizations and getting AA working. They have had two driver cycles since this game came out, and we?re rapidly approaching the third, still no AA support while NVIDIA did provide AA support in their drivers for this game by use of a profile.

You know what else isn't working? When I used my 8800gt and enabled AA in C&C Generals, a 5 year old game. I guess AA isn't working on NV cards either.

Havent there been some ban warnings about personal attacks like that recently?

Of course the defense-squad is here to derail a story that is negative towards ATi to get it locked, breaking ToS in multiple ways.

Someone that posts garbage like this should get a time out. Some new users/builders come here for hard facts and get this????? One known game broken...... oh nozzzzz.
 
It's exactly like the thread Rollo posted a few years back, about AA not working on Ati cards, when it really only applied to one game.

BTW, Wreakage, did you forget that it's no longer Ati, but AMD?
 
There is a big difference between "AA not working on ATI cards?" and "AA not working in one game on ATI cards." Just another misleading thread by the same person.
 
We all have to give credit to Wreckage, in his lifetime mission, of bashing ATI-AMD cards. While is great for people to find out about the quirks in the enemy's videocards, have at least the common sense and change the title. It's one thing to point an issue in one particular game and it's a totally different one to try to generalize that issue for everything.
 
hmm, big deal. 1 game with no AA support yet is a whole world different than "AA not working on ATI cards?" This seems to be an omission intended to be inflammatory.

This video subforum has gone to shit over the last several months anyway. I just come here to see all the crap being spewed... it's like watching the WWE... "Fake" entertainment.
 
Its hit or miss with a lot of games for both GPU families. I'm still waiting for forced A.A. with HDR to get sorted out for Oblivion and Nvidia cards. It tends to fail after a hour or so of play time (and has been a longstanding complaint by many). And A.A., even selected in game, never worked with Two Worlds on my 8800 GTX. Always had to force it via nHancer.

Amazing how P.C. gaming with its multitude of engines/games/developers spanning many years on two different driver types tends to be problematic. Who'da thunk it? 😉
