I'm considering buying this monitor, b/c I need to replace the crappy P992 Dell monitor I have...

Every time I use the Dell monitor, it emmits a super high-pitched sound which drives me insane... It stops when the screen goes dark or black, and starts again whenever white comes up... Insane...never buy a dell monitor!

Anyways -- what's y'alls opinion on the Viewsonic A90f+ 19" monitor?

Thoughts? Reviews? Personal experiences?

That's the one I've got and I love it! The color quality is great for graphic design work, and I've never had a single problem with it. :)

I'm using one here at work. It only goes up to 1280X1024 @ 75 hz refresh rate which not only bugs me but it is also not the aspect ratio I like. So I run it at 1024X768 @ 85 hz with all the fonts adusted for better outlay of the programs I use here. The quality and color are just fine though. Crisp text and colors OK, even on my cheesy vid card here. For work it's OK.

Looks nice though. It gets a 5/5 for looks. Unfortunately i don't know about the specs too much. Seem a little on the low side, but maybe the price reflects that?

?

GrumpyMan... The website (link on my original post) says that the resolution goes up to 1792x1344...?

"1792x1344 maximum resolution
Displays a maximum resolution of 1792x1344; 1280x1024 optimal resolution at 80Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy-on-the-eyes viewing.
1792x1344 @ 61Hz
1600x1200 @ 68Hz
1280x1024 @ 80Hz
1152x870 @ 94Hz"

Did I miss something?

No you didn't, that seems to be a newer version than the one I have. They have improved the refresh rate it seems. Mine will only do 1280X1024 @ 75 hz refresh. Could it be my cheesy video card? Maybe. I'm sure you will enjoy the monitor, I enjoy mine. I'm just used to a 22" 2060u Mitsu and run @ 1600X1200 @85 hz at home.

So they have the same model number, but different specs? That doesn't make sense...:-/

I figured that if it was a different monitor it would have a different model number. How am I suppose to know which one I'm getting if i buy it online or at Best Buy?

Same model, older specs.

That's why I'm worried if I buy something online and it has that model number, I will get stuck with the older model...

Well, I bought mine from best buy and it's boxed manuals match the Viewsonic website, and haven't been updated since early last year. I highly doubt the stats have actually changed, when a company does that, they usually advertise it in some way, who doesn't like imrpovements? Anyway.. I'd trust a manufacturer website far before any vendor.

EDIT: Just caught this at the bottom of the Viewsonic page, I stand corrected: \

"Specifications subject to change without notice. Selection, offers, warranties and programs may vary by country; see your ViewSonic representative for complete details.

Though my suspicion of vendor's stats on products still stands... I've had them be wrong as often as they've been right... they just don't update often enough.

So you're saying that the monitor that you bought (the A90F+) was purchased at Best Buy, and matches the following specs:

1792x1344 maximum resolution
Displays a maximum resolution of 1792x1344; 1280x1024 optimal resolution at 80Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy-on-the-eyes viewing.

1600x1200 @ 68Hz
1280x1024 @ 80Hz
1152x870 @ 94Hz

...?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Best Buy website was wrong, but grumpy man posted that his monitor only goes up to 1280X1024 @ 75 hz...

So now I'm really really lost. ;)

I'd love to get the monitor, but only if it goes up to 1600x1200 or higher than that. Manuf. says that it goes higher, bby.com says it only goes up to 1280x1024...

Anybody know exactly what's going on?

Stupid bestbuy never sent me my rebate AGAIN! I HATE bestbuy. They owe me $65 now!!

Make copies of your rebates and everything you send in your envelope. If you don't get your rebate after 8 weeks, the store has to give you your money (hehe I have experiences with that...:))

But GrumpyMan also said that it could be his lousy vid card that limits him at the 1280X1024 resolution with that refresh rate. And mine is biege and not that snazzy new color scheme.

;)

Well, I can't be sure just how high it goes, I'm buiding my system when I get home from work tonight and I've got an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro so I shouldn't have any limits on resolutions I'll let you know how I do as soon as I have everything together.

Ahhhhh....now I see what the difference is. One of the ladies here got the monitor that you are looking at which is the A90f+ and the one that I have is the A90f with no + next to it. Maybe that is where the discrepency lies as far as the refresh rate is concerned. My apologies, I didn't realize that they had one with a + and one without.

That's cool. The best buy website must have made the same mistake, too, becuase the resolution and refresh rate will only go up to a limitd 1280X1024.

:)
