I want to get a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo with the following:
AMD Athlon64 90nm <socket 939> 3000+ or 3200+
Tsunami Dream Black w. window & 400W PSU or Lian-Li PC-78B
Leadtek Winfast PX6600GT TDH PCI-E
Creative Labs Audigy2 PCI OEM ($46) / Audigy2 ZS PCI oem
Leadtek Winfast TV 2000XP Expert
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 200GB SATA
NEC 3520A
Mitsumi 7 in 1 Floppy & Card Reader

My questions:
1. Should I go with 3000 or 3200?
2. If I go with Lian-Li case what power supply do you recommend?
3. What RAM is good and works well with above system? Is this Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 good or is it overkill? Any other recommendations?

Any other issues I need to address/change?

All I can say is read my Sig because what I have put together is a rock solid system. I did a lot of research on this site and from a few others before I put my system together. The people on these boards are very knowledgeable and helpful and that is what I based most of my decisions on. I put this system together, booted it up, loaded windows xp pro, updated drivers, tweaked windows and loaded the rest of my programs and games without a single problem! I followed BlackVipers instructions on tweaking windows XP :) Good luck

I am going through the sam thing you are right now. I opted for the Asus a8n-sis deluxe amd went with the 3500+ 90nm. As far as video card I think i am going for the leadtek 6600gt and memory would be the Patriot PC-3200 RAM ... a great reference was the anandtech buying giude. I would say go for the 3200+

http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.aspx?i=2324

my only problem besides money ..is my PSU is an antec true power 430w ..and im not sure if it will meet the needs of the new system ....good luck..

I'm so confused - what's the difference among all the RAM? What do these numbers mean: pc-3200, 4200, 4400, and DDR1, DDR2, etc. What is desired? What matches well with my proposed system? What if I go with a AGP system (Asus K8V-Deluxe mobo)?

1. Go with the 3200, the 10x multi comes in handy if you want to run memory 1:1. I have the 3200 week 41 and its running 2601mhz 9x289

2. Get a quality single rail power supply with at least 25a on the 12v rail. 24pin or 20pin both seem to work well with no problems or adapters necessary. If buying specefically for this board I would by a 24pin model. Stick with the top makers Antec, Enermax, OCZ, Fortran, PC&C etc...

3. Without a future bios fix, this board won't run ram stable over 240mhz 1T, so at this point high speed ram or expensive overclocking ram is overkill on this board. I really hope this is fixable with bios revision as I have the OCZ TCCD chips capable of 265-275

DOES 24 PIN MEAN NO ADAPTER NECESSARY.

SO, WHAT RAM IS SUFFICIENT?

With a 20pin power supply no adapter is necessary. You just leave the first four pins nearest the chipset fan open.

Any of the PC3200 value ram from the top makers OCZ,Mushkin,Corsar,Crucial,PQI,Kingston will work well on this board. I beleive the premium rams based on the Samsung TCCD chips are optimum for timings and the ability to O/C on this board (and hopefully a bios update will allow full utilization of premium ram)

Depends on how much more performance you get with the bigger bucks. Is it worth it?
