Here's the screenie

A8N-SLI with ram @ 287mhz

I have the 1T/2T setting set to AUTO in bios, I suspect it is auto setting to 2T, but how can I tell for sure?

All the bench's I've run including Sandra Memory Bandwidth, PQI, Aquamark03, 3dmark05 are almost identical to benchs I've run using 2557mhz DDR333 ram=233 2-3-3-5 1T. That has to indicate that its 2T right? I would think 2583mhz with ram=287 1T regardless of timings would beat the 233 setting by a significant margin?

*edit*
I found it in Sandra

After the listing of timings it reads 2CMD thats 2T right?

Right, you couldn't even boot with A8N over 245-250 with 1:1 1T, be sure! So it's 2T. I can go as high as 310 with 2T 1:1, but not over 245 prime stable with 1T

nice OC, but I can go up to 295 here at 2T, but it kills my memory performance. Kinda makes me wonder if Asus is ever going to fix this issue.

Yeah its a shame. I re-ran some benchmarks with both settings and 2557 w/ ram 233 1T, beats 2583 w/ ram 287 2T by 2-5%. 2T is a performance killer for sure.

I hope ASUS can fix this with bios update. But I am beginning to fear it maybe a limitation of the board/chipset revision and we will have to live with it.

If it is fixable in bios ASUS should be working around the clock to figure this one out. Because if other makers start shipping NF4 boards that can run 1T over 240. The sales of this board will take a significant hit, and it will go from being the NF4 king to the court jester.

I'm very anxious to see the new NF4 boards that have come out in the last couple of weeks go over 240 1T, this would prove its not a chipset issue.

I hope too. With previous versions I could only go up to 230 with 1:1, 1T, and now I can go at 240, even 245 prime stable... Now, I think that by next official release, they'll fix this.

Guitardaddy, it is NOT a chipset issue. I know plenty of peeps with other brand NF4 boards that can do 1T very high (way over 240). I myself am running 275 1:1 front side bus with my Gigabyte K8NXP at 1T with over 8 gigs of bandwidth in Sandra. 2T definitely kills performance.

ok, has anyone noticed the file size of the 1004-001 beta bios? i am tring to flash to this bios from the 003 final release. the problem is that the file size is much smaller than previous bios. when i unrar the bin it shows 0kb. wtf? am i doing something wrong here? i have flashed the bios numerious times (as most of us have) without any problems. not sure what the deal is with the size of the bin. i am flashing with the awdflash program with a boot disc. someone who has used this beta bios please help me out. thanks
also anyone runnin 1t 240fsb and higher exactly what memory are you using? i am runnin pc3200 balistix at 2.5,2,2,6 at 230fsb x 11 and 5x ht. thanks for the help.

Guys,

What memory are you running?

What are the timings?

What are your volt settings?

Using CPUID what are the SPD settings of the ram you have?

I am using Gskill at present, the LE variety and I really want to push these TCCD chips to the max.

I notice ByMax has the corsair C25 ram, good stuff man!

Currently running at 3-3-3-6 1T @ 222mhz, gonna try an tighten it up a bit more.

Also, has anyone tried OCZ ram booster on TCCD chips with the A8N-Sli MOBO? I have one I used on my P4 system - not sure if I need it now.

One last thing, has anyone stuck another 2x512MB of the same ram in the spare slots? What was it like trying to overclock?

I can go 245, primestable, but 250 only for screenshots :)

GuitarDaddy,
In the screenshot, I see you are running your memory @2.95v. IYO is this is safe level or are you pushing the envelope? Does you know what the max safe level to run Corsair XM3200C2-PT memory is? I am running 2.85V and am having trouble getting past 230Mhz on the memory. I tried the following setting last night but failed

3-4-4-10 1T/333Mhz lock (5/6 FSB multiplier I think) @ 2.85V. I then pushed the CPU to 280 and got Prime95 errors. Anything > 280 would simply reboot during benchmarks. I know my CPU can get > 2.6Ghz based on previous testing, but I want to make sure my memory can keep up. I'd like to try pushing the memory volts up to see if it helps but don't want to fry $200 worth of RAM on a newbie mistake.

My stable setup is currently 2.5-3-3-7 1T/333Mhz lock (5/6 FSB multiplier I think) @ 2.85V. with FSB ~270 which gives ~2.4Ghz

thanks,
John

I don't know about corsair. But my OCZ has an extended voltage warranty up to 3.0v.
I have heard of people pushing it to 3.2v

Ok thanks GuitarDaddy. Just asked "The Ram Guy" who I guess is Corsair's tech support. In case someone else is looking for this info, here is his response:

All of our DDR1 modules are warrantied up to 2.9 Volts. And I would suggest 2.7X Volts with most modules and MB's.
