A8N SLI-Premium Vcore and RAM questions

So I was seeing how high I could push my 3200+ Venice (E6) and found that I was getting Prime95 errors at 2.4GHz with a Vcore of 1.55
CPU temp at that time was 46.

In BIOS it won't let me set the Vcore any higher than 1.55 (using BIOS ver1009)
In the motherboard manual it says max supported vcore is 1.65

I did read on the ASUS site in a FAQ that vcore for A64 cpu's is limited to +.15V over stock.
I'm just confused because I see other people posting overclocks with Vcores of 1.7 and higher (usually with DFI boards).

Am just wondering if there is some way I can get a higher vcore with this board? Would a different BIOS version help?
Would things be any different if I had a DFI board?

A second issue I had was that when I started up with my new Corsair Value Select 2x512 RAM I was getting lots of crashes. Memtest told me my ram was generating errors and when I put my old generic 2x256 stuff in the problems were solved.

Should I play around with Vdimm a bit and see if I can make it work?
Or just return it because it won't work at default settings (everything auto, no overclock)

I personally haven't tried this yet, but I've seen some people using v1005 and v1006 for bios on this board and they were still able to go higher then 1.55. I personaly can't go past 1.45 but I'm on v1009 myself

Most ASUS BIOS won't give more than 1.5V (sometimes 1.45V) for dual-core. They think we're too stupid to handle our own hardware.

I'd suggest you ditch that board (it has a terrible vcore fluctuation problem with dual-cores, too) and pick up a DFI board, or the new A8N32-SLI. I think the only BIOS people had luck with as far as A8N-SLI Premium is 1006. It might let you up the Vcore +0.05V more.

Good luck.

pick up the latest beta bios 1011-05 and try it. it should allow you to go much higher (i finally was able to reach 1.5V after being stuck on 1.45V for a while).

Listen to this man. I used to have an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium and had terrible trouble with vcore fluctuation. I love my DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D though 😀.
