The saga continues. Well I RMA'ed the board back to ASUS and it does the same thing. I am told the power supply I am using is not big enough so my next question is what do I need for a power supply? Its either the power supply or the CPU at this point. It passes memtest 86 but fails in prime95.

Funny - I googled that and this is where I ended up. I'm fed up of major heavy IO causing either some major stuttering, or a complete hang in XP64 (sometimes very occasionally in xp32 as well).

Need to do some further research on this - anyone got any pointers ?

Its fixed finally. It was not the motherboard or powersupply or the memory. It was the frigging CPU. I finally send the chip back to AMD and they sent me a brand new one. I put the new on in and put on prime95 torture test and it ran for three days without a hicup. I suspect that many of the memory problems that poeple have been having and blaming it on ASUS are the fault of the CPU. THere are too many post of poeple having the same lockup issues and memory errors.
