OK, since a few of us have this board, what are your thoughts about the onboard sound. Not so much for MP3's or whatever, for gaming...

How about SB Audigy 2 ZS?

Worth the upgrade?

Whatever your opinion is, explain why you pick one over the other.

I can't be the only one thinking about it..

Haven't used it. Popped my Sound Blaster Live in and have stuck with that. Onboard sound puts a huge performance hit on this board, IIRC.

I don't have an A8N-SLI but using the realtek onboard put a 4-6fps hit on my rig instead of an original Audigy. I really wouldn't mind at all and would have stuck with the onboard but it sounded like crap. :(

I'm using an Audigy 2ZS instead of the onboard sound. I have gone through several implementations of Realtec audio on various boards and have not been pleased with the sound quality of any of them. If you are not picky about sound and the onboard sounds ok to you, use it and save yourself some money. If you are unhappy with it, by all means pick up an Audigy.

The onboard sound on this board is absolute crap. Why Asus allows this crap on their board is beyond me. I am also thinking about putting in a Audigy 2ZS sound card. Any sound card would be an improvement over this.

My thoughts too... The only problem with this is, the Audigy has no inputs for front mic/headphone.. unless you by the plkatinum... if im wrong, someone let me know..
