A8N-SLI Deluxe-- What settings can I tweak? My system is running slow?

Here is the system I just bought... (with some parts from my old PC)

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon64 3500
BFG Geforce 6800GT OC (PCI-E)
WD 74GB Raptor HD
1GB RAM (Corsair XMS PC2700)

The system is 100% stable and runs pretty good, but I'm only getting between 4500 and 4800 with 3dMark05. Those scores seem a bit low for my setup and I'm guessing it's because of my RAM.

I've tried changing the one DRAM setting in the memory (it's at the top of the page, I forget the name) and I changed it from "Auto" to "DDR400" but it didn't seem to make any difference... (in fact, I got a LOWER 3dMark05 score). So... I'm wondering if I could overclock my RAM to run at DDR400 since I'm running XMS series (which I was told is very good). I'm also wondering if I should manually set the DRAM timings in case the motherboard isn't detecting the 2-2-2 properly.

So, my overall question is this: How can I tweak the settings of my A8N-SLI motherboard?

Thanks for any advice.

that one card or 2x 6800GTs ? for one card it's about right since 3dmark05 is GPU intensive and disregards much of cpu/memory specs

If it's a single 6800GT, that seems about right. You can probably get it above 5k by optimizing windows if you haven't done so already. It's about 3 - 400 below normal, and yeah, I'd guess that's the PC2700. Get some 3200 ASAP.

Anyway, to hell with 3dmark, how do your GAMES play?

Are there any guides explaining what each of the RAM settings mean? I'm using Corsair PC2700 XMS (w/included RAM heatsinks), so I'm guessing I can push these things to PC3200 but I'm not sure what each of the settings mean... The sticks are also rated CL-2 if that matters...

Also, whats the best program to measure RAM speed? SiSoft Sandra?
