You guys think that bios upgrades will resolve this 240@1T 1:1 issue, or should I go for K8N Neo 4 (SLI or Ultra)?

Your board is maxed at 240 1:1 even at 2t? I know I cant get over 240 1:1 at 1t, but at 2t I can do 295mhz

I can't find it. All Taiwan has available for me is 1002 final and 1003-006 beta.
 
I was using BIOS 1003.007 but I wasn't able to upgrade my BIOS to 1003 final using ASUS Update Windows Utility. When I chose Update BIOS from file and tried to flash I got an error: "Fail to reserve dmi data in EEPROM". I had to save 1003 to floppy disk > boot > and press alt-F2. That way I got my BIOS updatet to 1003 and everything seems to be fine now. From some german site I found some writings about this error message... error message appeared because Bios inner framework was changed... whatta??!! Anyone else having same problem with ASUS Update utility?!

yup thats me asus program does the same thing to me same error message and everything rauskis..... I cant flash my bios now cause I dont have a floppy lol.....
 
Downloaded it and used the ASUS Update to update from file - went fine, without a hitch. Running 1003 final now. Doesn't seem to be very different from the others, but I haven't tinkered with it much yet.
 
where is this file??? all the links posted above from ASUS don't have the file.... they must have pulled it...

I know it's there, thats where I got it from, but some people seem to keep not being able to find it. Doesn't hurt to have a non-FTP mirror.

Thanx, Eddie 🙂, yeah, over here at our forum www.benchmark.co.yu/forum, we have couple of them guys that are waiting for that board, but I hurried with A8N-SLI since I was into A64 (Preshott was a no-no), and I needed PCI-E board 'cause of the X850XTPE sample, and I'm the only one at benchmark that's reviewing graphics... If I had a choice back in December, I'd go for Abit (my fav.) or DFI, but back then, only ASUS had a ready nF4 board avaliable (it was sample, too, so at least I got all of it for free 🙂). I'm thinking about MSI now, since Abit and DFI won't be seen in a while here in Serbia...

No, JMag... I can go as high as 280-285 with 2T and 2.5-3-3-8 (everything besides cas was left at auto), but now only 245 is prime stable with 1T. Are you saying you're going as high as 295 with 1:!. I have to check out how high i can go - board can do over 310, but with DDR set as 333 or at Auto. 🙁 Best results with 245 1T, though... Even at 280 2T is slower (CPU is always around 2.6-2.65Ghz)
 
This 1003 final is making ht link @ 4 guess its for stability reasons...im a bit newbish with every new board so here is my question...

Did they do that for stablity reasons, and would it be ok to set it from auto to 5x...this way it seems to downgrade the gpu performance(get only ~6000 in 3dmark03 and 3100 in05, used to be higher)...but finally everything works fine...

Some well thought explanation would be great..
 
I didn't play with any of the betas. The final gives me loads of options that wern't on the 1002 shipping. Now, to make a fresh backup and explore. 😉
 
I like how they changef the marvel lan to "enabled". Maybe it will stop people from thinking there lan controller is broken... ahh, who am I kidding, they'll find a way.
 
I've noticed everytime I step up to a newer bios I have to turn down the voltage on step to maintain the same temp.

Also AI Booster indicated the voltage was set to 1.61, this is what I had it set in the bios, but the voltage drifted up to 1.65 till I clicked apply then it brought the voltage down.

Just found an issue since I updated the bios 1003.010. While in the bios if I select sli to change it. The system locks up.

How do you manully set everything in the bios. Seems if I change memory speed above DDR400. Jumpfree config all goes to auto. If I manually set jumpfree memory goes to auto.

I don't mind using AI Booster everytime but the system doesn't like presets. You must step it up in baby step. It doesn't like everything at one time...
 
If you change the memory speed, it will go back to auto in the jumperfree configuration. However, you can then go and set the jumperfree to manual and your memory settings will still be there. At least that's how it works for me.
 
Same problem with the SLI selecting issue, I tried using the +- to change it to SLI instead of auto but now when windows started it said I only had one card! Changed it back to auto and everything is fine again. Only other problem I seem to have is sometimes the system will hang whne detecting HD's. Im not sure if because I have 3 Sata + 1 Pata and 3 optical drives or what.
