My A8N-SLI MB temp (chipset temp) rises and drops rather slowly. Once it slowly levels off, it won't change much REGARDLESS OF load (3dmark03+prime95). To the contrary, CPU temps rises/drops quickly according to load, suggesting that the cpu heatsink really works.

Hmmmm. I got a fan blowing directly above a passive heatsink (zalman nb-47j) on the chipset. Could it be that I did not install the heatsink and thermal paste right? But The temp is pretty good though, around 36-38 for the chipset.

I do notice that opening the case drops both cpu and nb temp down 4 degrees or so.

Anyone else notices that the chipset temp does not drop or rise that much or that fas or changes little on load?? And what would be a good benchmark test that puts load on the chipset??

Your temps are fine. My cpu temp rises about 10c during startup, then settles back down to about 40c.

Im getting 35 cpu and 37 board temps, and its the middle of summer (im in aus) and its 30 outside.
You're temps will rise and drop depending on the load, but it doesnt seem like u have a problem, if ur heatsink wasnt working ud now about it! ie, 70 degrees and flames coming outta ur tower.
If u want it cooler, get a fan duct, and a pipe that connects the fan directly to the outside, ie cooler air intake. A better exhaust fan will also keep things cool. But if ur leaving the clockings, and or benchmarking it then u shouldnt worry, its all under warenty so doesnt matter
