Ok, so chipset cooler on this mobo went freaky noisy, and i just cant stand it, what should i do? Can i just plug it out? will the chipset overheat? i dont have SLI setup, only one graphic card. pls hlp 🙁
No u cannot unplug the fan. The existing heatsink is too crap to not have a fan. Your chipset will overheat and your motherboard will get screwed.
I have a asus a8n-sli, yeah the fan does get noisy (eventually). I tried to find ways to avoid removing the heatsink and replace heatsink and that would mean unplugging everything and taking out the motherboard. I just removed the fan cover (which blocks half the air) and using can of compressed air try and remove dust from chipset fan see if that helps. I still have stock fan for 7 months and it isnt making any high pitch noises.
If u need to replace fan/heatsink I know people have posted that they replaced heatsink with Zalman NB47 and it works and is stable. This will mean u have to take out your mobo to remove the existing fan and heatsink.
