245mhz x 9 = 2205 at 1:1 and 1T, I'm still going, carefully.

Does anyone have a link to A64 Tweaker btw?

I stay away from the betas, there is a reason why the call them as such. But I don't mind you guys being the beta testers for everyone else :).

247 x 9 = 2223 still at 1:1 and 1T. I'm also still running Prime95 in the background, 100% CPU usage, 48C full load. I think 247 is a bit early to say it's working, but at the same time I'm not gonna go more than 1mhz at a time.

249 x 9 = 2241, all settings as above.

lol, as I was typing this message prime95 errored errored errored. Hmmm.

Right, well, I was testing as CAS2.0, so thinking this "might" be the cause of my problems, I've started again as CAS2.5.

As of 19:06: 248 x 9 = 2232, prime95ed for 15 minutes with no errors, time for 249 that spewed errors last time. If this fails, then the 1005.001 BIOS has got nowhere with the 240/250 1T limit.

Neither of the new bios resolved my machine loosing its Maxtor DiamondMax9 drives so I broke down and called Asus tech support.

The tech said he's sees my problem often and there is no resolution besides getting a new board. He seemed to think there is an issue with the NForce chipset as in some just have issues.
Or he was just trying to get me off the phone.

He verified my new Enermax 485 2.0 power supply as approved for the board so I guess I'll try another board b4 another PS.

Anyway, I'm going to RMA through ZipZoomFly first, or at least try.

I too have just "lost" one of my Maxtor Diamondmax10s with the 1005.001 and will certainly look into RMAing it if disappearing hard drives is a good reason.

Yes the 1005.003 was pulled. I hope Veedo's computer is alright because they may have found a bug in it that causes big problems.

This is what I've been running since I got the board. May try taking it higher later, but right now there's really no point.

I just grabbed 1005.003 and I'll see what's up with it. I've had slightly better success with each release so far, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Oh, and hi Veedo ;)

seems like you guys are having a lot of very frustrating problems with the A8N-sli, I guess that's what happens when you listen to Anandtech's recommendations. I think the only reason they recommended it is because its ASUS and its SLI. Good luck getting them to work.

1005.003 does something different. Even from 1005.001

When my board at first can not find the RAID array drives, it seems to try to restart teh drives, and then always can find them and boot.

I'm having an issue in windows so I'm trying another format and reload of Win XP.

It seems that after I upgrade to 1005.003, the machine would boot, and the windows driver would do something to the drives or controller, causing it to loose the drives again. It would then reboot the machine and the raid bios would then seemingly restart each drive that was part of the array.

I could work in safe mode without problems so now the BIOS may be fixed. I'm going to reload and try different drivers and see if it makes a difference.

Oh and I would not even being doing this if ASUS RMA dept would send me the emails they promised so I could have RMA'd my board yesterday. Not only did there RMA dept have troupble speaking English, they must have problems using email as well.

I disagree with you arswihart. The A8N-SLI is a pretty stable board (the usual hiccups with a new board featuring several new technologies aside). For the average speed user not using raid and doing only slight overclocking this board is as solid as any other SLI board out there or any S939 board for that matter. Not counting physically defective boards such as those that arrived DOA the only major problems with the board seems to be the crappy northbridge fan and that the Diamondmax 10 NCQ drives seem to not work with it. This might be a Diamondmax problem or an nForce4 problem as one person in the DFI thread has said his drive was not recognized by his DFI board either when NCQ was enabled.

The initial set of problems on the A8N-SLI boards were based on the fact that they were released with a crappy bios which worked fine for non overclocking use but absolutely sucked when you tried to overclock it. I'm not saying it's the best overclocking board but after installing the 1003 and 1004 bios this board seems to be in the upper ranges as far as overclocking is concerned.
