A8N-E won't shutdown or sleep

Before I do a complete system rebuild, I thought I would ask if anyone has seen this.

I'm running:

Asus A8N-E
2GB valueram
eVGA 7800GTX
(3) SATA
(2) PATA drives
P180 Case
Windows XP Pro 32bit with SP2 and patches. Fresh install
using the nForce RAID, boot vol is SATA single drive

From what I hear, youre supposed to talk to the motherboard in a very soothing/calm voice and ask it nicely, then it shuts down. 😉

This happens to me as well, and i believe its a BIOS problem. So far by reading, v1008 seems to cause it on some peeps.. one person has solved it with downgrading to 1005.
I would like to know which BIOS you are using.
I was going to upgrade to beta bios 1010-003 in a bit, but chose to browse forums but its a rare problem :-( cant find much help

The problem isnt just described "wont shutdown". When winxp is shutting down it turns off several computer parts actually. Grafic card turns off it seems. LED's and CPU Fan and the 12V for the other fans are still there. Cannot tell whats up inside in detail.. but the Softoff power switch works fine! I got to hit it for 4 seconds to turn my puter off.
So far i guess this is also a BIOS function so something is messing 🙂

I also got a A8N-E mainboard (1008 bios)
2GB MDT rams in dualchannel
MSI NV..something 7800GT
2 SATA2 drives
1 PATA drive and 1 PATA dvdram drive
windows xp home SP2

Plus for me i have updated to chipset drivers 6.70 (prev 6.65) from Nvidias Website (since Asus dont have them or support them i do not know) and the problem is solved.
I also have BIOS 1010.003 still.
Still may seem to be a bios-->driver conflict so keep on trying with diff ones.

Hi, this behaviour happens when you're building RAID using Nvidia drivers 6.65, I solved after update to 6.70 drivers. (see at Nvidia web site). Do not update IDE drivers, only select Sataraid driver folders after you decompress new drivers in your HD folder, DO NOT INSTALL, just update to new driver.
Hope it helps.
