There are so many threads on fan and bios problem with the A8N-SLI... are there any with the A8N-E? It will be used with a venice 3200+ OCing and value memory

It does not have the problems the SLI version has whatsoever. Mine was stable out of the box and very easy to setup. Plenty of "bells and whistles" and overclocks easily. I have mine at 260/10 all day everyday, Prime, SuperPI stable. I have the XP90 with a Panaflo 92mm fan in a Sonata case and temps idle are around 31C load temps around 43C.

It has the same fan. Prepare to find a different hsf.

Have you run this board next to a DFI SLI board or any other board? I have, the DFI's fan is equally as loud and the IC7's fan is LOUDER than this boards NB fan. If, there's still a "quiet PC" desire beyond this, there are a couple of easy remedies. Connect to fan controller, Buy 40mm Panasonic/Panaflo and replace the fan for about $5. Not a big deal really and since all non-passively cooled NB's on boards use 40mm cheapo fans, the sounds will be pretty much the same across the board unless there's a problem with said fan. If you plan to O/C, I wouldn't try passive colling although some have stated they were going to.

I'm not at all familiar with the MSI board so I won't comment on it.🙂
