I want to disable my ide cd-roms in the bios of my mobo..
The very first screen shows a list of IDE devices..
I've set the cd roms to Not Installed...but it has no effect..They are still detected by windows...
I'm not familiar with the BIOS of your particular board, but have you checked to see if there is an IDE/SATA configuration screen where you can DISABLE the IDE channels??
Yes.. The page I mentioned is the ONLY page in the entire bios that shows the IDE channels.. Channels 1-4 are actually IDE.. Channels 5 and above show as IDE but are actually SATA...probably for backward compatibility with dos apps etc...
There is no option to disable the channel..u can only set the corresponding device in the channel to Not Installed..
The same page has a sub-page thing which only lets you disable or enable SATA channels, RAID etc..
There is another post of someone with the exact same problem..which he couldnt solve..
There is also no option to disable the entire IDE controller either.
