I am putting together a brand new computer but cant get WindowsXP Home Upgrade to install. I am using an ASUS A7V600-X mother board, Athalon 2600+, Western Digital 120Gig SATA drive. The install starts from the Windows CD but it does not recognize the hard drive! I went to the Western Digital website and it said you need the driver to install on floppy. So I copy the driver from their website to floppy and try it again. It seems to find the file that its looking for and then it seems to start all over again and still cant find the hard drive to install Windows too. Any ideas? What am I missing? Appreciate any help you guys can give!

when the motherboard is posting, does it show a flash screen showing the Sata controller and the drives attached? if not then you probably need to enable the Sata controller in bios

as a side note: on that motherboard the sata controller is built into the via southbridge, but still needs to be enabled in the bios... and the boot order needs to be set so the drive is on the list
