A7V333 Rev 1.04 + Barton?

Quick question:

Will a Barton Core work on a A7V333 Revision 1.04? Not concerned with the 333 FSB, just interested in the increased cache of the Barton.

TIA

its not officially supported (only a7v333 rev 2.0 has official support of 166mhz fsb cpu's)

but most likely if you have the latest bios version it should still work

You would want to run BIOS 1016 for this. It seems to work best. A quote from a similar thread on another site ......
well it's been 4 months since I got the Barton 2500 in my Asus A7V333 Rev 1.02 board and I am running BIOS 1016 and OCing the barton to 2.08GHz 12.5x166. Runs solid as a rock....love it.

Good Luck!

I did exactly that with a Soyo Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition. It has the same chipset as your ASUS. It works for me. The BIOS reports it as an "UNKOWN" processor. Sandra 2004 gives ita PR rating of 2127+. I can live with it as is until a bargain on new mainboard and RAM comes along. I would assume there is a very high probability you would have a similar experience. It is probably the golden processor that could get to 4.0ghz on air and I am running it at 1466mhz.
