I'm not using the RAID Controller right now, and I want to disable it to decrease my bootup times...
how'd I disable the thing?

What kind of RAID controller is on it?

My Gigabyte let me disable it with a jumper and it has Promise. My Abit has HighPoint and there's nothing I can do to disable it.

Why not put your primary hard drive on the raid controller? You will see increased performance. Just make sure it is connected to the blue ide slot (D0) and Scsi is selected in the bios as the primary boot device.

I would recomend against upgrading your bios unless you really can't stand the wait during boot up. I went from 1004b to 1005 recently and experienced all kinds of problems (associated with reloading the 4 in 1 drivers)

Good luck!
