I am trying to install Windows XP Pro on an ASUS A7V133, latest BIOS (1009) with the onboard Promise Fast track 100 lite controller, with a RAID 1 array consisting of 2 20GB drives. The drives were previously used in this system in the same configuration however running SME Linux, but I have since run fdisk /mbr on both and confirmed with fdisk and partiiton magic that both were clean before creating a new partition and formating each. The drive is accesible in DOS when booting to a floppy.

When installing Windows XP, I use F6 and load the promise driver and still when it displays the menu of available drives to install to, it will not show the array. It is set to bootable, and in the bios it's bootable status is above that of the onboard IDE harddisk, which the menu does show. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!

I would try to recreate the array, the array should be FDISK'd and formatted AFTER you create it. There must be a key to press to get into the Promise BIOS and create the array.

I've tried recreating it but it does not seem to correct the issue. The drive should not have to be partitioned or formatted for Windows to detect it, it performs those tasks during the install. I am also going to try updating the promise BIOS.
