A7V Temps

I'm lookng for some data on temps for the A7V to determine if I should get a better HS. After reading many of the messages about "my temp is better than yours", no one really compares the ratio between the MB temp and the CPU temp. Seems that the lower the ratio between the two will better indicate the cooling properties of the setup. Wouldn't it be a better to give (under a full load of course), the MB Temp, the CPU Temp, type of HSF and paste used, CPU type and OC speed with voltage used?

Currently I'm running...
A7V
MB Temp 27c
CPU Temp 50c
generic HSF & paste (has a Gobalwin sticker on the fan)
Duron 700@963 at 1.8v

Hmmm... it would, but only if the case setups were the same. MB chips tend to run fairly cool, especially would good case cooling.

The one everybody should be comparing is AMBient Case temp, versus CPU Underside Temp.

But even then, one should not compare socket A temps due to the critical accuracy errors, and numerous factors including the temp readings not really being an accurate "portrayal" of cpu core temp. If the chip runs fine for you, and temp readings are within a "reasonable" margin, then you're good to go.

Looking at your temps, you might have a globalwin FOP32-1?. For your cpu speed and voltage, your temps are pretty much very "reasonable". NO reason to worry.

If this helps my temps are as follows CPU 40 (Load) Motherboard 28. My roomate has now cranked the thermostat in the house to 74. I have two 80mm fans drawing air in and two 92s sucking air out (85 cfm in and 88 cfm out). I have an ALPHA PAL 6036 heatsink with one of those cute black label Delta 38cfm fans and I am using Artic Silver paste.

my comp runs at 50c under load. It always gets up that high, and i pretty much stopped worrying cause it's mad stable. The Asus PC probe sets the chip temp threshold as high as 80c or something like that. If you pair a hot chip with a bit inaccurate way of measuring, you get weird readings, so i stopped worrying.

i have noticed that the athlon 750 and duron 800 (not o/c'ed) run at about 43-47c under load and my board stays under 30c usually

My duron 700@800 on a7v is 53 right now, when it gets to about 60 the system crashes, it usually tops out around 55 though. When summer rolls around I'm going to need to do something with the cooling...

shaft those temps are way high what HSF are you useing and how many case fans?????????

Not worried too much about the temps, but cooler is better. Since most of us don't measure the case temp, I thought the easiest way to get a guess of case temp would be the mobo temp, but I'm not sure where it's measured from. A lower ratio between CPU and mobo should indicate better preformance of the HSF setup, understanding that not all things being equal in everyones case design and setup. Anyway, I talked my son into getting 2 A7V's with 700's on them. He's running at 900mz, but hasn't played much to try to max them out yet. However... as an Air Farce avonics dude, he used a bit of paste from the shop and told me that his temps went about 5c cooler on the cpu. since our mobos all came from the same place I might look into just getting some better paste to see what happens.

Yeah, but the ratio of mb versus CPU temp is highly dependant on Case cooling, rather than cpu cooling. For example, a 30C ambient Case temp case would have a 35C mb, and 45C cpu, whereas a 20C Ambient Case temp case would have perhas a 23C ambient, 35C. It would make the first case seem more "efficient", per say.

On my p3-650@982, CUSL2 seutp, i switched the rear 92mm exhaust fan to intake as an experiment. My case setup here.

With the fan on exhaust,I get a CPU of 39C, MB of 26C

With the fan on intake, I get CPU of 39C, MB of 30C.

One reason not to compare mb/cpu temp ratio's...
