A7V Promise RAID Array mystery - this really IS a challenge...

Hey everyone,
I have the above board and have just purchased two Maxtor ATA100 20G drives. I have followed the install procedure (jumpers etc) and it detects my two HD's on Boot, but I have no knowledge as to how to get into FastTrack and set up my array.
You see, I didn't get the [Ctrl F] for SetUp screen, it just detected the drives and continued to Boot. So anyway, the upshot is I have two drives listed [D0] and [D2] DMA 5 (whatever that means?) on the Promise screen during the detect phase, but upon Fdisk and Format, it only recognizes 20g not 40g. How the **** do I get in there, or what exactly do I do from here?
I have searched the forums but come up with nothing so far.
So any help would be a god-send.

If you have A7v133, then you have to change a jumper to go to the raid mode. I suggest you read the manual first.
If it is A7v, I think it doesn't have raid support without "hacking".

Hello!
Yes it is an A7V133, and yes I have got the jumpers covered correctly, jumpers 13 and 14, covered 2-3.
I wish it was 'that' simple.

I currently own the Fasttrak tx2 ata-100 pci card and i put it into my 8k7a. I purchased 1 60 gxp 40 gig IBM drives and threw them in and went with a stripped array.



The only way to setup an array is to go into the bios on the controller of the promise.

Being by ctrl f. If you can't go into there and set it up then pretty much you won't be able to setup raid.

ok,it seems this situation is ridiculous.
if there's no way i can get into the promise bios to set up the array, then i'm going throw a hissy fit. what if i clear cmos? will that also clear any info in the promise bios so i can start from scratch? i've emailed promise to get there take on things, so fingers crossed. but if anyone out there can shed any light on the subject until then - i'd really appreciate it!

ctrl-f is the right way to enter the raid bios but let me ask this did you make sure to have the raid controller boot first in the bios? are you sure you have all references to the raid in the bios set to enabled? go look again. and when it come to detecting the raid start pressing ctrl-f. i know you did it all ready go look and try again. and set the raid to boot first and turn off ALL other boot devices ok
