Hello all, I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine sure went by quickly... :(
Anyway, I have a problem that when I tried to move from onboard ATA66 to the promise ATA100 controller I have compatibility issues. The computer freezes upon booting at the screen where all the devices are listed after I try to install the driver and restart. Then I hit the reset button and it boots fine but then under device manager I notice that the computer is running under 'compatibility mode' and the promise device has a problem... I am using all latest drivers and bios 1004c. This is a new system that I am building. HD is an IBM 45 gig ATA100. I have the SB Live in slot 3 and have assigned IRQ5 to Legacy... There are no resource conflicts anymore. Promise controller is using IRQ10, SB Live is using IRQ9 and 5...

The issues I get can be better explained by these two small pic files:
Driver Issue?

Compatibility Mode?

Well, thanks for the help... :D

Hey all,

I guess I wan't awake or something... I just assumed that on the second ATA100 channel you could have another device. Well, after I took my Plextor RW drive off and re-installed the driver, everything works really well... I now have the RW drive on the onboard ATA66...

Take care,
Rich

Yeah,
From the A7v manual, it state that cd-rom devices cannot be hook into the Promise 100. I think that you can put a ata 66 Hd into the promise 100 though.
