Was running a Soyo BX board with, Maxtor ATA100 30GB, and Maxtor ATA100 controller, now I moved my hard drive over to the A7V R1.02 and T'bird 800 (nice and fast).

All drivers and bridges installed and updated fine, but I have an exclamation next to PCI Mass Storage Device, which has to be the onboard, since I took the PCI controller out. But my drive is on the ATA100 channel and working fine.

Anyone give me some help? I have the most current Promise drivers and flashed back from 1005C after it reading the Asus site. I am now back at 1004D.

Longwinded, yes, but I would appreciate it.

What I can tell you thus far since I'm just setting up a similiar system,
(A7V,1gig TB,Maxtor 60g, etc.) is that I needed to install the [Win2000 Ultra 100 IDE Controller PDC20265] driver that came on the Asus m/b install disk and since then all has been fine. Meaning at least there are no yellow !! marks. Now whether the drive is actually running at full speed is yet to be determined because on running W2k and apparently my system has some issues still with ATA100 devices. Also in case it helps, check out the AMD site for the AGP registry fix dl. It really stabilized things for me, and don't forget to install the 4 in 1 drivers, (I chose 4in1425 and all seems to be running well so far). Good Luck

I'm curious, why did you do that?

I flashed back from 1005C because I would get an Inaccessible Boot Device error and figured I would stick with what I had until the newest bios was no longer beta.

I will check the AMD site, and I know things can get funny when moving a drive from another mobo, but all in all it seems stable.

I have to say that although the Maxtor drive is fast, it is not as quiet as my IBM.

Thanks.
