Actually this might be a Win2K problem, but I think that this is a mobo thing. When I boot, I have a 40 gig HD on my Promise ATA 100 controler, BIOS sees it, and in WIN2K, it sees it as a Maxtor 5 4098H8 SCSI Disk Device... Well does anyone know what is going on here?

It sees the Promise ATA100 controller as a SCSI device.
Have you loaded the Win2K drivers for the Promise controller yet??
:)

Yes, I think so. It is under the SSSI and RAID controler as Win2000 Promise...... (and so on, it is the new one from ASUS).

I guess I'm not understanding your problem then...sorry.
Can you access the drive in Win2K?
Which drives do you have hooked up to which controllers??
I need a bit more info to go on here LOL :)

ok, I have a 20 gig as a primary master, and a DVD on Primary slave. A 30 gig on Secondary slave, and an 8x burner on secondary slave. The 40 gig is on my Primary master on the Promise UDMA 100 contoler.

achelmer,
My guess is that he's outta here as I would have been even earlier as it took 4 posts to get this out of you.
"ok, I have a 20 gig as a primary master, and a DVD on Primary slave. A 30 gig on Secondary slave, and an 8x burner on secondary slave. The 40 gig is on my Primary master on the Promise UDMA 100 contoler."
Sounds to me like you have one of your drives jumpered incorrectly, but I can only guess as I'm not there to see your rig.
Why not try running your 20GB as Primary master on your ATA 100 and your 40GB as Secondary Master on your ATA 100. (or vice versa as you didn't say which drive had your OS on it?????)
And run your DVD and burner on your ATA 66 controller, as you won't use the ATA 100 on either of those devices anyway.
By the way..next time you post a problem, try to give as MUCH info as possible if you're intent on getting help.
Either that or sell your 'puter and get a sony play station.
:D

Sorry about the extended information, I have had my attention elsewher with another computer and it's problems. The A7V is for a friend, and he is clueless (as am I). So thanks a ton for the help, and I'll see what I can do.

Would switching my 20gig (which does have my OS on it) to the primary master on the UDMA 100 mess up the Master boor record for win 2K?

This WILL be my last post on this subject :D
Your OS HD SHOULD be the Primary Master on the ATA100 controller.
Don't forget to make sure that your ATA 100 controller is set first in the boot order in your bios, right behind the floppy drive though and it won't hurt your
