Maybe you didn't set your second drive to slave mode, or didn't turn the swap mode on in the BIOS. Well, ver 1004c is out. Go download it from the Asus website.

Believe it or not, there's already a 1004d

ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIOS/Socket_A/VIA_Chipset/Apollo_KT133/A7V/

but what changes it makes I have no idea, remember 1004a is still the last bios asus have actually launched, and the letters to me indicate that these are still beta.

If anyone tries these and has any of the following, please could you let me know if they become solved, and if any other problems are introduced as a result of using it. I would try it, but i have my machine working, and not willing to change it unless it will solve the problems.

  • CPU Temp ~55ºc
  • Occasional Halt when using ie5.5 (temporarily solved by using Normal, and improved by manually updating the PCI-AGP bridge
  • Sharing IRQ 9
  • SB Live! Crackling while using ata-100 with set@home
