I've read on the newsgroup that the A7V 1.004a bios actually increase your CPU temperature. At first I thought I was the only one, but after downflashing my BIOS back down to 1.003 my temperature decrease big time!

I usually turn on my computer everyday at 7am here are the reading in the morning:

Bios cpu mobo - reading all done by Motherboard Monitor
1.004a 47C 28C
1.004a 49C 29C
1.003 38C 28C
1.003 37C 27C

this is done over a 4 days period.

You could argue that the BIOS report the wrong temperature, well trust me I touch my heatsink after 10minutes of running and I notice the heat coming off of the 1.004a version.

So if you are running 1.004a go back to 1.003!!!! and if you're already running 1.003 STAY there!

lenjack : in 1003, be sure to enable "PCI Master Read Caching"

this should lead to reduced temp while not at full load.

At full load, both BIOSes are about equal.

But full load is not very common, not even with gaming ! The only programs i really got full load with are MPEG4 or MP3 encoding ...

So should I stayed with 1.004 if I know that my computer is going to be run full load 24/7? I have this board coming tomorrow and I'm gonna let it crack RC5 for TeamAnandtech.

Erm, it's not really possible for some of us to go back coz were using win2k, (and before you say change to linux or another m$ os) I use the COM+ for developing Corba apps, and i'm heavily into to networking and net services.

Does anyone know if 1004c fixes this or if Asus are planning to release a fix to the problem, my amd 900 is reported at about 55c which i think is a bit hot. confused;
