yep, I can't decide. I want to run a tbird 900, win98SE + win2k, and an ATI radeon. I have no plans to overclock anytime soon or use RAID. basically, can I not go wrong with the a7v and kt7? all the reviews I've seen are great for each...should I just flip a coin?

and anyone heard about the a7pro? it's a cheaper a7v, just has less USB ports and only ATA66, but I'm not getting an ATA100 drive anyway. I can't find much info on it...

If you have no plans to OC, you may also want to consider the MSI K7T Pro. Its a stable board that will give you little problems. Its also $30 cheaper. No I don't have one, but I do OC. My roommate's works flawlessly.

If you don't want to overclock or use raid, then flip a coin and forget about raid support. However, the extra $20 or so will make sure you can use it in the future if you want to. It's not hard at all...provided you don't want to install on it. This is coming from someone who tried to install win2k on a raid array using the beta ry bios from abit. ^_^

I personally recommend the abit kt7. If you do decide to overclock, it's a fair bit easier than the asus a7v. From what I hear, you have to install some electrical components on newer a7v's to change the multiplier, assuming you've already unlocked the cpu. With the abit, you make your pencil marks and go at it in softmenu III. ^_^

Most are agreed that the a7v and kt7 are equally good...and equally much better than the other socket A motherboards out there. Unfortunately I know nothing of the a7vpro...so I can't help you there.

agree with paulip88. if you are sure you will not o/c, and you don't need raid or ata100, there is no reason to go for the expensive a7v or kt7. just grab the cheaper k7t pro from msi and you will love it. I think it's a great board.
