A7N8X in route...now, which memory...

I have read numerous articles reviewing the board but I am consistently confised by which memory to purchase.

I plan on purchasing a single 512(Corsair CL2) for the moment. Should I go DDR 333 or DDR 400. The 400 seems to perform slightly slower. Not sure why.

I plan on, in 3 months or so, picking up a second stick of 512.

Thoughts appreciated!

I will probably do some easy Overclocking without extreme cooling options. I am new at this so I would tread lightly <g> in fear of messing something up.

If only light overclocking then you could just get DDR333 and run the memory in sync with the FSB.
But if you may get more serious about overclocking in the future then theres no harm in having that extra headroom for overclocking by getting DDR400 now.

I guess just buy the best quality ram whichever speed you are going to buy that fits in your budget.

I think you wanna get two dimms so you can use that special memory mode right?

That's one of the advantages of the NForce 2 chipset.

I know I will want to go to 1 Gig.

So for now, I will settle for 1 the single 512 and hopefully when prices drop for corsair and my wallet reloads, I will get the ellusive 2nd chip for dual ddr.

Before you buy anything check out this link.

High speed DRR Tested and rated

I have this board and it runs rock stable at 211 FSB. My Kingmax is running at 200 Mhz but at cas 2.5 and loose (diarrhea loose) memory settings. However I have been running 200 in sync for days. I tortured this board with Hot CPU, Prime 95, SETI and Folding@home for days and it has not crashed yet.

Get the best damn ram you can afford and make certain you buy two sticks of it.

I think the OCZ PC3500 DDR 512MB EL Enhanced Latency CL2 RAM is probably the best out now, they even have Dual DDR specific Ram coming out soon, check out their website.
