A7N8X-E Deluxe: Soundstorm and Logitech Z5300s can't agree on anything...

I recently replaced a dead 8RDA+ with a brand-new A7N8X-E Deluxe. I used the on-board RealTek ALC650 AC'97 and it sounded great; just fantastic. I installed the new mobo, did a fresh XP install, and loaded up all the latest drivers. Everything runs great... except the audio, which fails to equal the 8RDA+.

The ASUS manual suggests connecting the centre/bass to the blue jack, the front speakers to the lime jack, and the rear speakers to the pink jack.

When I connect the Logitech Z5300s following the colour-coded instructions in the ASUS manual the speakers are all mixed up, even NVSwap fails to sort it out.

I need to switch around the centre/bass with the rears in order to get the sound to the right channels.

I just noticed the mobo has jacks designed specifically for rear speakers and the centre/sub. I plug the speakers in and I needed to switch the centre/sub via NVSwap.

Still, once the speakers find the right jacks, the sound just doesn't sound right. The highs are fine, but the lows sound really dirty. I started a thread about that issue HERE.

I'm extremely frustrated by these issues, especially the crummy bass. My questions: Am I the only one experiencing these issues, and also, would buying an Audigy 2 ZS help my woes? Is it truly better than the on-board Soundstorm?

Help!

This is what I have to do for the analog jacks on my NF7-S 2.0 as well.

This is what I wonder about. I've never had to use NVSwap, even though I do have to reverse the physical connections for the rears and the center/sub. I'm thinking that it's possible that it's trying to send the wrong channel to the sub, thus it sounds like crap.

I just went through all the newegg reviews looking for some clues for you guys and didn't find anything 🙁

Usually complaints like these tend to show up there.
