A7n266-C NForce 415D is HERE!!

I've read one review on this board, but does anyone know of any more? I'm really interested in this MB, but I'm buying the components for my system this weekend or Monday at the latest. Is this is the only dealer to have the board, or does anyone know of any other place to pick it up?

I wouldn't quite jump for joy until someone actually sees one of those boards. According to the site the model is "ASA7N266-C-WOA" and in Asus parlance "WOA" means no audio. If it's true, no audio on an nForce board is really a waste.

Well, I called SpartanTech and talked to a Sales guy.

After explaining to him that one of the best things about these boards was the audio, he went and checked.

He has confirmed that this board doesn't do onboard audio.

Now, this is a sales guy, so take this with a grain of salt or two.

I don't know if the board just doesnt have the ACR sound card included with it, or if just doens't do audio at all.

So, bad news for those of us waiting on the Asus A7N266-C with audio.

Good news for people looking to add their own audio.

Guy from SpartanTech had no idea when they were going to get the A7N266-C's with audio, but said if he had to guess, it'd probably be another 2-3 weeks!

Asus, tell me it ain't so! :Q

Jeez, you'd think ASUS would be able to produce enough nForce boards WITH audio. I wonder when the ASUS 415-D will be available here...

And yes WOA means "without audio." The other site listed on pricewatch is also the same ASUS nForce board w/o audio.

ASUS seems to like to stripe the crap out of nForce for some reason...
 
According to Asus' specs it is a 415D chipset. Since it's identical to the 420D boards except for a missing VGA connector, the "WOA" may mean it's not shipped with the ACR audio riser. Either that or it's the classic Asus WOA where the game/audio in-out connector stack isn't mounted on the board. Considering the Game/MIDI, CD/Aux/Modem audio in, and Headphone/MIC connectors are also listed as optional, I'd guess they stripped all audio inputs and outputs from the board. Guess we'll have to wait for the first guinea pig.

BTW, any potential shoppers also need to check the LAN outfitting as well, since the specs say LAN is optional. Realtek 8100 LAN, of course.
 
Man, WTH is up w/ Asus?

I cannot fathom why you would build an nforce w/o audio. Thats just stupid. It's built in to the chipset for cryin out loud, the only costs they saved were the physical connectors. What could they have cost, like $1?

Here's what they wrote on Asus.com.tw:

No, not really, since that blurb is talking about the "normal" A7V266-C with audio. The board being discussed here is the A7V266-C-WOA without audio.
 
I would wait for the ABIT version of the nForce 415D. It has a lot of features, and it should be cheaper than ASUS.
 
Well, I found a link in another forum (forgot where since I closed the window) to a place called Googlegear.

They are selling the A7N266-C with audio for $127 USD. Please note, that this board does not have onboard LAN.
