A720 IS night problem

Hi Guys!
My name is Sim. I just bought a new Canon A720 IS from a local shop. Last night i went to some flower show at my place. I took a video and found some lines (purple) appearing on the screen due to lights. look @ the screenshots from the video you will get the idea.

Eventhough the lines appearing on Picture mode, its doesn't show up when the picture is taken.

But its surely in the video. Is it a problem? Do I need to go back to the shop and ask for a replacement?

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards

That's ugly. It looks like a sensor problem to me. I'd definitely take it back and get it fixed or replaced.

Nah I think its normal. This also shows on the live view, right? I remember my A70 would do the same, but that I would not get those weird lines in an actual photo.

In actual photo, I am not seeing these lines. But the trouble is in the video, I am seeing this lines. The pic i have provided is a screen shot from the video i have taken. Everytime i playback the lines are there. So i am a little bit worried over here.

Hey you know, This is my first digital camera. I never used a Digi cam before. I obviously i dont know anything about digital cameras. Thats what i am asking. Please tell me what should i do?

Thank you so much for your responses.

I checked with the manual, It says that its normal. Thanks Mangomago. I guess u were right.
