Right i understand it will work the thing I am trying to understand from post articles will I get the benefit of the dual core system ?

Depends on what you do. If you just look at the desktop, you wont benefit from a second core. ;)

XP home will handle a dual core the same way that XP pro does, there will be no performance differance..

Problems when you game. the game run WAAYYYYY too fast. you have to set the affinity.


a horrible problem for a 500 cpu.

No, if you install the driver and the hotfix, it works fine.

Yes, XP Home fully supports the X2, Opteron dual core, & Pentium D processors.

The X2 driver is on the AMD site, do a search. The MS hotfix I have not needed to install it, but if I do, I will do a search, as I have seen it linked to before here.

I am going to start a school for incompetent computer users such as yourself....I probably could setup your system and have no problems....I have discounts from kansas state fans since I know they have some inherent disadvatages...Haha LOL!!!!

Sounds like the hotfix won't be necessary if Dynamic overclocking is disabled (which it will be for me)
