Congrats on the new setup Jeff. I'm dying to know how that chip o/c's for you, looks like a week 2, '05 chip, haven't seen anything on those yet... :)

I fine speedfan to read more accurate temps, Im watercooling a 3500, and bios sticks at 38, mbm5 says 44 idle 55 load... speedfan says 31 then 38-40 on load.

I got my 3500 to oc 450 mhz so far

Sounds cool! I am loving my new A64 system as well. Curious as to why your job has anything to do with overclocking the system. It's not like Overclocking takes 3 weeks to do. Bump it up slowly, get it to a relatively safe speed like 2.4 GHz, run something that keeps your CPU at 100% while you're not using it (so you don't have to give your machine up to test it), and every few days, just bump the FSB up 5MHz. No need to spend hours testing right away....if it won't work, the computer will let you know, and you can go back down.

I'm not saying you HAVE to overclock now, or even that you should...but I'm just confused on what your job has to do with it...

Sounds just like the system I just put together. My 3500+ is a week 1 2005. I also went with the NEO2 Plat. board. Video card is a 6800GT. I haven't tried to OC it yet, I'm letting it run at default for a while before I try to turn it up.

MBM does work with NF3 but some of the sensors seem to be off. They don't have a profile specifically for the NEO2 so you have to use the old NEO.

Very close... if I end up moving to take this job I'll be selling this computer to my family and I'll want the warranty in tact for them. I could have just waited to buy this till I heard about the job... but seeing as how my previous parts were overclocked too, I wanted to get them some fresh stuff with a warranty that would last them a while.

I'm using a BFG 6800GT OC.

Idleuser... I guess I was wrong about the inaccurate temp. It seems the AS5 needed some time to settle in... as I'm typing this right now it's sitting idle at 39 C.

I just noticed this has made the temp of my 6800GT skyrocket. The heatsink blows straight up onto the RAM, and straight down onto the video card... I'm not very impressed with the layout of this board. :disgust:

My 6800GT is at the exact same temps it used to run on the K8V SE deluxe...

Oh I found BIOS 1.51 (modded) that lets you set the northbridge fan @lower rpms, it works really good. Tell me if you want it ;)

Mine stayed the same as it was in my old system. I'm getting some new 120MM fans to really pump air through my case.

Do you know if it has any other improvements other than adjustable fan speeds?

It seems better for OC if using TCCD chips and shows all the hidden BIOS options.

Also, Jeff, for the 6800GT, make sure the mobo hasn't OCed it, there's a hidden bios setting that OCs it to 370/1070.

Well it's already at 370/1000... BFG OC card. The "ambient temp" reading used to be like 38-40 in the nVidia control panel when I had it overclocked to 400/1050. Now I have it at stock speed and after about 30 minutes of playing CS:S the ambient temp was 46.

*EDIT* I'm using some Mushkin PC3500 Level 1 RAM... I don't know for sure what chips it has, but before I was able to run 217 @ CAS 2 and that's what I'm able to run now. But...
I followed along Zebo's guide and isolated things... set the RAM divider at 100 and multiplier at 8 and LDT at 3 and went to town... I got up to 280 before I stopped and figured that was higher than I'd want to go... but when I tried to bring the RAM speed up (set the divider to 133) it refused to POST... I had to reset the CMOS. I did some other testing and can get to 217x11 (2.39) with RAM in sync... or 240x10 (2.40) with the 166 divider... 242x10 with the 166 divider fails Prime 95 after 2 minutes... however, 240x10 runs for over an hour. I'm using the 1.40 BIOS... should I try the 1.41 BIOS that seems so popular? Or should I go straight to the 1.51 BIOS?

**EDIT** BTW... I didn't get the job... :(

You have CH5 chips, there. From my experience they aren't good with that MoBo if you want to OC as I have explained in another post they I could OC less with that chips no matter the divider than with some cheap Elixir. I don't know if this is the BIOS for you... have a look here

Thanks... maybe I'll look into some new RAM sometime.

Got to 2.53 GHz somehow... seems perfectly stable too. 230x11 on 1.47 volts with RAM @ 5:4 2-3-3-10
