I figured this was the best place to ask seeing as timing/overclocking all come together..
I have a msi k8n neo4 platinum motherboard
a64 4000+ 2.4ghz sandiego
2x 512mb ddr OCZ EL Platinum REV.2 PC3200 1gb CL 2-2-2-5 184PIN DIMM Dual Channel (doublesided)
Just running this is fine, but when i add 2 more for a total of 2gigs my system is completely randomly freezing, from what i know when you use 4 dimms on this board doublesided it defaults to ddr333, and from some other forums some people had said this issue shouldnt be happening with newer cpu's <one being my san diego>. So i have everything on defaults/optimized in my bios I'm not too sure if i am supposed to tweak them.. but here are my settings -
Timing Mode = Auto
Memclock index value (Mhz) = 200Mhz
CAS# latency (Tcl) = 2.5
Min RAS# active time(Tras) = Auto
RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) = Auto
Row precharge Time (Trp) = Auto
Row to Row delay (Trrd) = Auto
Row cycle time (Trc) = 12T
Row refresh cyc time(Trfc) = 24T
Read-to-Write(Trwt) = Auto
Write recovery time(Twr) = Auto
Write to Read delay (Twtr) = Auto
Refresh Period (Tref) = Auto
[User Config mode - Auto]
Bottom of 32-bit[31:24] IO = E0
1T/2T Memory Timing = 2T
Read Preamble value = 6ns
Async Latency value = 6ns
S/W memory hole Remapping [Disabled]
H/W memory hole Remapping [Disabled]
MTRR mapping mode [Continuous]
CPU-Z:
memory section - channels dual
frequency - 160.8,jz
FSB
ram: Cpu/15
cas latency - 2.0 clocks
ras to cas - 2 clocks
ras# precharge - 3 clocks
cycle time (tras) - 5clocks
bank cycle time(trc) - 10 blocks
dram idle timer - 16 clocks
SPD section
module sizes each 512mb
pc3200(200mhz)
-- So here i am after scanning tons of forums and i still cant get it to work so ive came to all of you guys help, i dont know what to do and im not too familiar with what settings to tweak ive never had to play with ram before .. any help at all is appreciated, thanks
